Re: Intro Thread

I'm Mike Rennick.  I go by f86sabre on most forums and Jalopnik.  We've entered Lemons South in the summer of 08 and the spring of 09.  We lost the clutch after 11 hours the first time and finished 14th the second time in our 1991 Escort LX.  Right now we are gearing up for the Lamest Day next fall.

We are a small team based in the Atlanta Metro area.  Feel free to drop us a note if you need anything.

Brad here.  I'm a Nuclear engineer from the outskirts of Pittsburgh PA.  Got a team together here from the plant and a few other engineers from college.  Planning on running our first race this fall in OH.  Still don't have a car yet, although we have a few prospects.  Still have time.

How are those AP1000s coming?  I used to work for a company that supplied reactor tooling.

My name is Scott and I enjoy the smell of burning rubber and long romantic walks in the junkyard.....

I'm a sales manager for an internet car parts distributor in San Diego, CA and I'm captain of Team Porcubimmer.

Veteran of 4 Lemons races (both Altamonts in '07, Altamont '08, T-hill '08) although only the last two were with my team. Will be working as a pit lackey at Reno for one of my former drivers who created his own team.

Re: Intro Thread

Wel, my real name is Jim, and I have a team all set for the Lemons New England. We will be racing a 1963 Corvair Sedan, with a Powerglide! The car is running great (all 80 HP). I stayed well within the rules of the competition, however, I recruited a cracker jack team, including drivers involved in SCCA, NASA, and a Corvair expert.

This will be the oldest car ever (unless you count the Alfa mashup that Nick Pon pilots) with all the driving dynamics or, well, a Corvair! So, if you're in CT in July, come check us out.

Re: Intro Thread

Jer, here, one of three captains in the Schumacher Taxi Service fleet of not-so-fine automobiles.  I have three Lemons cars-the rolled CoROLLa which will probably return to the scene of the crime in September, a Citation for Stafford and a Miata we haven't starting prepping yet for Nelson Ledges.

Jer / Schumacher Taxi Service
2010 Spring CMP I.O.E. winner
2010 Sebring overall winner
1996 Miata, 1991 BMW E30, 1987 coROLLa (retired), 1984 Citation (retired), 1993 Miata (retired)

Re: Intro Thread

Matt from Free Range Racing... One of the teammates with the least amount of mechanical experience but the most organizational skills.  I'm the umm.... Team Manager? or something

In "real life" I'm an IT Project Manager.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzz i know

Re: Intro Thread

DJ, team Lost in the Dark. In real life I sell parts, in Lemons I am the team captain. We ran our 89 MX6 turbo at both the Houston races and are headed to the Louisiana race in June with a Miata. We also were handed a 95 Probe GT that the owner threw in the towel on.

We might hold a record for toasting turbos in the MX6, we have gone through two used ones and a rebuilt (the rebuilt actually lasted the least amount of time...) and now killing two motors, this car likes to eat expensive parts. We are currently searching for a 2.2 non turbo to stuff in the turbo motor's place.

Jason from team Shake and Bake 4-cyl Mustang Mafia. We ran YeeHaw TX last year and the Gator-Rama earlier this year. We'll be back to the YeeHaw event later this year and hope to do a few (further) out of town races next year.

Re: Intro Thread

Hey all.  I'm Duncan, team captain of the Traveling Wilburys, soon to be renamed Wee Beastie Racing.  We're entering an '86 Golf in the New England race; should be fast.  Our 'theme' is still being developed, but one of the boys works for a keg supply company, so our tactics are clear... bribe the judges, and get the other teams drunk enough on Saturday night that they can't race straight on Sunday!  smile

Re: Intro Thread

Greetings fellow Citrus-heads!  I'm John with the Lemons Fire Department (1991 Miata) and also Team Heavy Downforce (aka - World of Outlaws 1994 Miata).  Reno will be our 5th Lemons event.  Basically, I'm an entrepreneur: over the years I've started and built 6 companies -- two in technology, two marketing consulting firms, and two are motorsports related.  I owned Altamont Motorsports Park for a three years and for the last eight years I've been developing Riverside Motorsports Park.  I've been racing for 35 years -- AMA, SCCA, NASA, IMSA, IKF, SCCA-Pro Racing, FIA, WestCar and Lemons.  I met Jay Lamm through Dan Radowicz (Series Admin for the CSRG - Classic Sports Racing Group) in early 2006 and I'm pleased to say that Jay has become a good friend... you should see him Disco Roller-skate!  I look forward to seeing all the old LeMoners in Reno and meeting all the Newbies, as well.  If you need anything at the track, check with car #31.

All the best -
John

Re: Intro Thread

Rob Leone - another one of the three team captains for The Schumacher Taxi Service.  We've run CMP twice and Stafford once now.  I'm currently working on my wife to let me join Jer in Stafford for that race in the Citation.  We have an MR2 that is currently prepared and I just bought another MR2 that might make the track next year.

If I didn't know about the fire in CMP - I would have thought that Jay was coming after us with the exhaust rule.  We have yet to finish a race with an intact exhaust system.

--Rob Leone Schumacher Taxi Service
We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Re: Intro Thread

I am Elmer Fudd. I own a mansion and a Yacht....

But seriously, Hi y'all, Dave Spinnett aka "Spinnetti" from Northern Kentucky. I'm a long time Toyota guy and AE86 SCCA club racer (17 years). I'm car lead for one of Toyota Manfacturings two cars (not as factory as you think). We currently have a FX16 and a Celica, and have run Kershaw south twice, and Toledo once. Our FX has been a soldier, but the Celica has blown up once, crashed once, and had a distributor failure most recently, so I guess the "factory" connection didn't help us much! We think the Celica might be cursed, so on with a new build - a lexus powered Corolla after a lucky craigslist hit and a free wreck from a local guy who generously donated it. (PS the lexus link is still up on craigs if you want to check us!)

If you have any Toyota related questions, I can probably help you out. I've also done quite a bit of cost analysis on running Lemons if you wonder what you are getting into.

"Don't mess with Lexas!" LS400. We survived another one! See website link for build details.
Maker of the "unofficial Lemons fish!" - If you ask nice, I'll likely give you one at the track.

Re: Intro Thread

Hello everyone.  I'm Tom team captain of Team Fox News for the Lemons New England Event.

We are running the number 4,  1993 VW Fox Polo.  Shes a reliable ride.... and should be entertaining.  My team is a bunch of SCCA and NASA autocrossers and road racers, we have varying levels of experience over the years, but we all know how to have a good time.  And we have all recently been released form prison!

Wow I sound like I'm at an AA meeting.....

Ok we weren't really just released from prison... but hey we drive a VW Fox we need to sound tough somehow!

Reno will be my second Lemons event as an official team member; I was at Thunderhill last December as a member of Faster Farms.

This time around, we're running a 1983(?) VW Rabbit.  It's a Bunny.  With a pancake.  On it's head.  Meh, you'll get it when you see it.  Only a week out, and we're really excited now!

TST, fool.

It's a Bunny.  With a pancake.  On its head.  Really, is it that tough?

Let's hope you have a better fate than the rabbit for which your team is named.

Yeah, Oolong has passed away, but hopefully Yuebing will have picked up the, um, carrot and run with it.  In the fine tradition of pets balancing things on their furry little heads, Oolong was the Baryshnikov.

Also, we hope our car doesn't blow up.  big_smile
