Re: Winner Stats

I wouldn't say its a curse.  I mean GM has dominated the real winner category, the general just doesn't care about that silly overall win.

Which does bring up an interesting point, what are the stats on the REAL winning manufacturers?

1990 RX7 "Mazdarita"  1964 Sunbeam Imp (IOE 2013 Sears Pointless) 2002 Jaguar x-type (Winner C-Class 2021 Sears Pointless)
Gone bye-bye
1994 Jaguar XJ12 (Winner C-Class 2013 Sears Pointless)  1980 Rover SD1 (I Got Screwed 2014 Return of Lemonites)

Re: Winner Stats

It would be interesting to relate the winning make/model data to number of entries per make/model.  That is, which make/model has the highest winning percentage?

10x loser (Arse-Freeze '11 - Vodden '15) 1x WINNER! Arse-Freeze '14 in the Watermelon Volvo Wagon
Swedish Knievel Skycycle('90 Volvo 740 Wagon)

Re: Winner Stats

Phil had made an awesome spreadsheet years ago with all cars up to the 2009 season ranked by 1st third of pack, second, third.  Its a Jalopnik post somewhere.  I downloaded the data and tried to keep it going, getting up to about the middle of 2010.  That is how we know the Volvo/Saturn/Alfa Romeo are the top cars as far as being reliable.

Re: Winner Stats

I would be interested to compare the number of entries by each manufacture. I am sure it would be skewed toward BMW E30, Mazda Miata, SHO's, etc.

2008  Yee-Haw It's Lemons Texas - DarthBimmer; 2009 Houston Gator-O-Rama - Beermer; 2009  Yee-Haw It's Lemons Texas - Jewish Defense League BMW; 2010 Houston Gator-O-Rama - SwampJews from Hell; 2010 Houston Yee-Haw Texas - JDL - JEGS....errrr JEWS; 2011 Houston Gator-O-Rama - B Team - IOE Winner!; 2011 Houston Yee-Haw - Los Escorpions de Munich; 2012 TWS Yee-Haw Texas - B-Team - Dr. StrangeBenz

Re: Winner Stats

Those interested in compiling IOE stats are free to go nuts with it. It would be a quick, simple list to compile and the data is right here or here:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= … amp;type=3
http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/events.aspx

I like looking through the whacky IOE winners, but don't feel compelled to compile "stats" on such an arbitrarily selected collection of cars. The moral of that story would be "yes, it does get weirder".

Yeah, I thought about breaking models down by generations too. Too lazy to research it. I think it would only affect the RX7, BMW 3 series, Supra, and Civic. Pretty sure all Miata's were 1st gen.

Re: Winner Stats

If you take Hong Norrth, Eyesore, Race Hard Race Ugly, and POSRacing out, Mazda and BMW are nowhere near as dominant. BMW is probably going to own the constructor points championship, just from the sheer number of well-driven E30s and E28s. If we continue to get more E36s, however, that may change; the E36 has been pretty terrible in Lemons.

My opinion is that Mazda is still the strongest Lemons marque, in terms of likelihood of any given car being not-terribly-slow and not-terribly-unreliable.

Good point!  If you take out the turbo-charged Eyesore Miata, I think the Miata wins drop to two.  When is the last time a NA-Miata won?  I'd bet it was years ago.  The bimmers and Acuras are the fast cars now.

Okay.  I fixed it.  Figured out why I missed the purple nurple's IOE.  Since I ran at the Showroom Schlock Shootout, I had already visited the results page (several times).  So when I finished recording the results from the race below it, I skipped it and went to the race above it.

Anywho, here it is.
