In the real world, I work for a mobile TV production company. They've expressed a little interest in trying to cover a race, but paying for it would be a neat trick as our normal rate is somewhere in the $3500/day range... we'd cover it with a minimum of 6 TV cameras and have graphics and a director switching the whole thing....

damn, really? I'm starting to wonder why not for that kinda coverage. Maybe there could be something worked out to test bed the idea (like do it at cost or work something with jay & nick) to gauge interest with the masses that aren't going but still wanna see.
If it holds water, float it. if not, sink it...
Yeah, this is where I usually sit, doing video shading/painting:
And this is the rest of the truck. We can do up to 10 cameras, 96 channels of audio with 5.1 surround, 3 channels of digital video effects, plus three more channels of graphics in addition to a bunch of other really cool shit.
(the guy sitting in the chair is the owner of the company)
Dayumm, I see why you are _the_ official team photographer....
