I would vote a Pontiac Overhead Cam Straight Six. The 250 Cubic Inch Sprint would be preferable.

It's true esoterica for whatever esoterica is under that cover.

Or even better, a Kaiser Tornado OHC 6.

Are we still guessing the car?

Aston Martin DB7 V12?

Re: The Lemons Supercar

If the engine bay is wide enough, you could run two Slant 6s side by side. Turn one of them backwards, and you have a massive, 7.4 Liter, 60 degree V12.

The exhaust would be tricky to work out, though.

How has no one recommended the GMC 702ci "twin six" V12?

Re: The Lemons Supercar

I just learned something.  I always thought the GMC V12 was 2 305's.  But doing the math shows it to be 2 351's.
Hell yeah, that's gonna drink fuel.
And be hella heavy.

When is speedy gonna put one of these in a wingless P-40 warhawk?
Or a PT-109 car/boat?

I've posted that guy up a couple of times with no takers.  However, if you've ever seen one in person,  its massive, and it probably breaks the weight limit rule all by itself.

but nothing can tame the call of 703ci with 250hp, 585lb/ft of torque, and a 2400rpm red line when you crak open those dual 1 barrels.   Just run a muncie sm465 trans, and  1.5:1 gearing in the rear and have a theoretical top speed of about 130mph in 4th gear.

Re: The Lemons Supercar

I believe the GMC 702 is about 1500lbs ready to run, but without a car attached.

With nearly 600lb/ft why would you need a transmission? Just run an in or out box like a sprint car.

Re: The Lemons Supercar

A 3-71 is kinda, ok A LOT, too tall for a car.  But a 3-53 from a GammaGoat is probably do-able.  Shorter, and with an aluminum block, a little lighter.  And the GG 3-53 comes with a bellhousing that works with an SM420 and similar GM manual transmissions.  Nothing like the sounds of a 2 stroke diesel...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kko2xd8nk4E

Well if we are talking diesel let's talk Isuzu B engines. Cheap, plentiful, reliable, oddly fast and fuel efficient!

So much ESOTERICA.

Okay, so a quick swap six set up? Be able to run a Slant Six, a Kaiser Six or a Pontiac Six?

3-53 = 3 cylinders, 53ci each for a displacement of 159 cubic inches

3-71 = 3 cylinders, 71ci each for a displacement of 213 cubic inches

However, these are two-strokes, which effectively doubles the displacement.
159x2 = 318 while 213x2=426

Would you rather claim a 318 or a 426 under the hood? I win.

With logic like this there is no fail.

gotta do a jag v12 from an old XJ, i mean what could a hooptied out viper need more than some good old fashioned british reliability.

The car, inspired by the design of a golf car, was made as an idea to solve the Oil crisis in America. The car was launched by Florida based Sebring-Vanguard in the year 1974. It is the most popular electric car in the auto history of USA with around 4444 cars built in all variants. It came in 3 versions as 2.5 HP, 3.5 HP, and 6 HP motors. In the year 1979 the design was purchased by Commuter Vehicles, Inc. and the car was named as Commuta-car.

This would make sense, but it doesn't exactly strike me as a "supercar."

Re: The Lemons Supercar

Hoonatic Racing wrote:

Guess what? I lied. The Viper is nice, but not for me or Lemons. The Viper is too domestic and too mass produced. The Supercar is one of 4444 total production.

Nearest I can figure is it's either a 1991 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, or a 1:18 scale diecast F1 car.  Or pretty much any other diecast car, they all seem to be 1 of 4,444.

I don't think you're crazy enough to think the Pontiac is a "supercar", so I'm going to have to go with diecast miniature.
