Based on my experiences with bad information provided by British car freaks, I'll bet it's a 95% direct bolt-in, with the other 5% requiring three YEARS of fabrication.

While it may break your budget, I think you guys should find the grille from a recent year Ford car and slap it on the Aston.

Surely you can find that somewhere for far cheaper.

Long time across-the-pond lurker and all-round Lemons fan here - the genius this race breeds is fantastic!

I've have been following this thread with much anticipation and trepidation, now I have come to plead on behalf of my countrymen; do justice by this poor DB7 who has clearly been mistreated in its past life. If you have not had the opportunity to appreciate one in its proper condition, then I suggest you do so at the soonest available opportunity.

An Antrim Blue 2001 DB7 Vantage is a much loved member of my family (though not as long standing as the '71 TR6 PI) and as such I have had the opportunity to visit the DB7's birthplace at Newport Pagnell some months ago. I thought you folks might enjoy seeing where this future Lemon's life truly began:

I can confirm that the DB7 does indeed use the Jaguar IRS, and I believe it is a direct fit. If you need any parts I may be able to help source them, but I doubt you could get much at all in a Lemon's budget. IIRC a replacement wing mirror cost us £200 (~$300), not including the painted cover!

The first 2 shots are of the main service area of Aston Martin Works Service. The other three are the restoration workshop, to have your car (or box of parts to be rebuilt) spend time there is a minimum of £300K ($465K)!

Not a Smart. That's an "Aston" Cygnet... Some horrid thing built on the Toyota IQ that costs £30K (~3x more than the Toyota). Its only purpose it to lower AM fleet emissions to comply with new EU regulations, basically it's existence allows them to keep building V12s. Other manufacturers (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, Bentley) don't need to sell things like this because they are counted in their parent company's fleets for emissions.

That shop looks better then most showrooms I have ever seen!!! We want to do this car as right as we can since it is probably the only time in our lives that we will ever own an Aston. Finding reasonably priced parts has been a hassle but we are starting to round some stuff up.

We are a passenger side fender and a rear bumper away from having all the body panels. If it wasn't for the guy giving us the storage lot full of crap with the shell we would of blown out our budget.

I am very happy to say absolutely no fabrication was needed in bolting up either the front or rear suspension!!! The Aston is now setting on four mounted tires and rolls very well with little effort to push.
