Re: Crapcan Play List

Also, on L7's album "Stink", there's a song about Shirley Muldowney that contains the memorable line: He - "What's a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?" She - "Winning."

Re: Crapcan Play List

The "Beep Beep" song by The Playmates (used to frequently air on Dr Demento):

"While riding in my Cadillac,
What to my surprise.
A little Nash Rambler was following me -
About one third my size.
The guy must've wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep!
I'll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn."

Boom Box Car by Little Feat:

"With all this rap dap 'o' lappin' and those bass drums a flappin
At a million and twenty dee bees
It's got my eyeballs bleadin' and my eardrums pleadin'
I'm beggin' mercy, please, please, please
But what has got me so mad is when you tell me oh dad
Ya 'bout as square as you can be
Would ya think I's neater if I blew out your tweeters
With this 12 guage across my knees
Give up the keys"

Re: Crapcan Play List

When I was in grade school and junior high I wanted to be a truck driver. I think because I liked the trucks themselves and truck drivin' songs.  I had lots of truck drivin' compilations on 8-track. I think I may have outgrown my desire to be a truck driver when I realized I didn't have a taste for speed and going to the bathroom in truckstops. But I still like old trucks. And these truck drivin' songs still make me happy. And I still like driving long distances.
I find it interesting that so many of the truck driving songs I liked were about out of control trucks careening down hillsides.

Fake truck driving song but I like it. There was a version by a cover band called Country Road I liked better on my 8 track "Big Rig Hits" but I can't find that version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Qkdd1pU6c
also;
Nitro Express by Red Simpson
Runaway Truck by Red Simpson.

Can't find good copies of the original versions on the internets. But the versions by Junior Brown and Bill Kirchin are okay. Red Simpson's are the killers however.

Later song;

Actually, just about anything by Junior Brown is pretty badass.

Re: Crapcan Play List

If you're going to listen to "Hot Rod Lincoln," always choose the original 1955 version, which correctly describes the Lincoln motor as a V12.

Re: Crapcan Play List

I heard this for the first time when someone brought it up in the other thread about music. I think it is a GREAT driving song. I've been totally hooked on it. Get's me kind of amped.

An all-time great blues and funk guitarist/singer/songwriter/pimp daddy. A big influence to Zappa later on. A studio musician you can pick out in any song he played on.
Johnny Guitar Watson - Motor Head Baby

And a killer instrumental, way ahead of it's time (from 1954) that Zappa mentioned as being one of the reasons he wanted to play guitar.
