We took 6 Austin 1800's to get enough stuff to make one roller, add to that the Ford probe we took the drivetrain from and we ave a car worth,   A MILLION dollars!

That's a lot of car to come third from last...

Considering that the most nearly comparable series (Brand C) had done a comparable price increase at the start of this season, I'm not very surprised that the same happened here.  Both series have similar costs.  The only thing that's surprising to me is that Jay did in the middle of the season, instead of at the changeover.

Uh, no.  You have to take the 20 lowest A-rated, non-parts-only, non-core, from car-part.com for both the outgoing engine and the incoming engine.  Notwithstanding the documentation/valuation requirements, it's still the closest brand C comes to brand L's allowance for selling stuff off for credit.  As has been noted, it doesn't allow for cases where engine, engine+chassis, and chassis have approximately the same value, but I don't know how realistic that situation is.  For the "average" swap, I'd expect you would benefit similarly on both the outgoing and the ingoing engine.

In our case, in actual practice, we did pretty close to what the swap math assumes.  We bought a bare engine to drop into the car.

Technically he announced it in the middle of the season, but it doesn't go into effect until Sonoma, at the end of the season.  Makes sense, that place is effing expensive.

insider's secret: generally the low-buck yards will post the engine for whatever they pay for the car in order to set the price, if one isnt available. Then whatever else they sell + crush is proffit. With interchange and computer inventories, that is getting less common, but the prices have been set bassed on that for years, so the move is slow.

Either way, this is what I get when I do a national cp search for the engine we are running:

Re: Driver's fees up 50%. Let's Unionize!

Talking about Chump on this forum is about as interesting as talking about Lemons on Chumps forum.

On top of that, most of what people say on this forum regarding Chump rules is wrong / biased / skewed.  They do the same thing on Chumps forum about Lemons.

If you want to discuss Chumps rules, go to their forum.

If you want to discuss Lemons rules, you found the right place.

BTW, just to set the record straight, there is an appeal process for the values of all of the cars in the list.  The values will not be set in stone until the end of the year.

I am only adding this because I know there is some cross over between teh series.  If you don't like your value, now is the time to read up on the rules and appeal the value.

P.S. I LOVE how organized Lemons is.  I Love the B.S. inspections as well!  It is a waayyy better way of doing the inspections.  I can count on my 2 hands how many "mistakes" have been made with B.S.

I didn't get this email. sad Where's my spam?!

We're not going to an AIV process here, are we? That makes me glad we have a fairly straightforward build for the "ENTER ALL THE THINGS!!!" car, but my hopes and dreams to someday find a Trabant to shove our extra engine into really don't like that idea for Lemons.

Re: Driver's fees up 50%. Let's Unionize!

The Lemons BS inspection process will work the same way it always has, i.e., some evil corrupt judge will squint at the car and hand out agony or mercy as he or she sees fit, based on a complex formula only known to those who wear the sacred robes of the Lemons Supreme Court.

My #1 priority is seeing that Class C remains pure. Mistakes in A and B... well, they happen sometimes.

I think the only change in Lemons (right now) is that the per-driver fee has gone up, as of the Sonoma race (so from your point of view, not until next year unless you were thinking about a really long tow).

There was a segue to some brand C discussion both because this price increase brings Lemons prices back near to parity and because next year's brand C rules just came out.

The way it should always work. Because it's effin' fun that way. My day to day responsibilities are waaay too serious for my recreational endeavors to be taken too seriously, as well.

Keep Lemons fun. If it costs a little bit more, then I'll stop buying red Solos and drink straight from the bottle as it gets passed around.
