Want to watch the K-Car live this weekend at 24 Hours of Lemons at NJMP?

Rally Baby is installing a live telemetry system thanks to Autosport Labs Race Captuure Pro + Telemetry
Bookmark and share! Works great on smart phones.

For the teams who get the K-Car next.  Please post the link to Race-Capture.com that you create for your races, that way everyone can watch.

Actually this would also be cool to watch as it crosses the country.  You can see where they are, when they need fuel, if the temps rise as they go through Death Valley, and when the engine is about to explode!  smile

OH-MY-GOD!!1!

This space for rent.

Re: Want to view the K-Car live this weekend at NJMP (and every race)?

Will it tell you which part fails three laps into the race after it just drove on the road for 850 miles with no problems? 'Cuz I'd like to have that next time.

If you would like info on how to set up telemetry events or add data to the K-Car Telemetry, please email me at Scott@MyTrackSchedule.com

Here is some of the info:

Info on the K-Car's Telemetry Data and SIM card.

Service: T-Mobile
Number: (908) 764-0197

Plan: Pay-By-The-Day $3/day unlimited 3G

Figure out how many days of data you are going to use (you only get charged on days you use it), then multiple that many days by $3 and add that much $$ into the account BEFORE you need it.
You can call 1-877-778-2106 to find out how much $$ you have remaining.  Credits are only good for 90 days.

Pin 2: Positive 12v Power
Pin 9 - Analog Channel 6: Coolant Temp(*F)
Analog Channel 8 (internal, no Pin #): Battery Voltage (V)
Pin 13 - Analog Channel 2: Fuel Level (%)
Pin 15 - Digital I/O Channel 3: Brake (On/Off) - Not sure if this is hooked up or not.  Run a wire from brake switch to RCP, then set logging to 1Hz
Pin 20 - Pulse Input Channel 1: RPM - Currently hooked up but accidently disabled, please change to 1Hz in Race Analyzer.

Re: Want to view the K-Car live this weekend at NJMP (and every race)?

Minumum to get Race Capture Pro + Telemetry up and running for your event

Configure the Race Capture Pro for your Race

  1. Download and install the latest version of Race Analyzer

  2. Hook up RCP to your Laptop via Mini USB cable

  3. Read the current configuration from RCP to Race Analyzer

  4. Save the current configuration to your Laptop (File --> Save Configuration As)

  5. Update the Start Finish Co-ordinates of the race track you are going to. Use Google Maps to find the co-ordinates of S/F

  6. Go to the Scripting Tab and copy/paste the script below into RA (the script sometimes gets messed up on read/write):

  7. Save the current configuration to your laptop as a new config (File --> Save Configuration As)

  8. Write the current configuration to RCP (use bottom left Write button)

Scripting to auto-start logging and telemetry if speed is greater than 25mph.

function onTick()
    if getGpsSpeed() > 25 then
        startLogging()
    else
       stopLogging()
    end
end

Now you need to create an Event on Race-Capture.com and add your device:

  1. Login to Race-Capture.com (email me at Scott@MyTrackSchedule.com for password)
    Login Email: NSF@MyTrackSchedule.com
    Password: (email me at Scott@MyTrackSchedule.com for password)

  2. Click Create an Event (or join an existing one for your race)

  3. Once the event is created, from the event page, click Add device to event (K-Car)

  4. To view live telemetry, click on your device name (K-Car) from the event page.

  5. Copy the URL of your telemetry page and share it on your Facebook and other social media so your friends/fans/stalkers can watch the K-Car live!

You may need to add more data to the T-Mobile account (hey, it's only $10 per race and that includes practice).

  1. Go to Pre-Paid Refill on T-Mobile.com

  2. Click Fill Up Now

  3. Enter 9087640197 for the telephone number

  4. If you only need data for one race (3 days), just add $10.  If you'd like to stream data while driving across country or for more than one race, figure out how many days you need and multiply it by $3 and add that much to the account.

Re: Want to view the K-Car live this weekend at NJMP (and every race)?

Here is how to set up the scaling in Race Analyzer
http://www.autosportlabs.net/RaceCaptur … d_Settings

I forgot that the sensor values used to scale fuel level and temp properly where from my BMW.  The values should probably be checked and updated. Easiest way to check the values is to hook up RCP to your Laptop, turn the car to on position (don't start it yet) and run the Sensor Monitor in Race Analyzer.  Go to advanced options and change the setting to Simple Linear Scaling and logging precision to 3 instead of 0, so you can see the raw voltages (write those changes back to RCP so that Sensor Monitor will show you voltages).

For fuel, remove the fuel sender from tank, but don't disconnect wires.  While holding upright, the value read on RA Sensor Monitor will be the value for 0% (empty).  Flip the fuel level sending unit upside down and read the value on Sensor Monitor.  This will be the value for 100%(full).  Now plug those values into the Advanced Settings for Fuel Level and change to Mapped value and logging precision back to 0 for fuel level and save.

For engine temp, get a IR temp gun.  While cold, shoot the temp of the engine near the temp sensor and record that temp against what is currently reading the Sensor Monitor.  Now start the car and as it is warming up, take several temperature readings and record the values shown on Sensor Monitor.  Try to get ambient temp, 150*, 180*, 190*, 210*, and 230*.
Here is how I scaled it

Awesome - if I'd known about this I would have requested a fuel pressure channel, too, so I don't need to plumb in a gauge sometime tomorrow afternoon!
