Topic: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

Spotted near Wind'N'Sea beach in La Jolla this weekend. Perfect condition late 70's Datsun 310GX. Note that it has no passenger seat and will therefore save time on race prep. Other plusses include race grip steering wheel and plenty of empty food containers inside for mid-race nourishment. Offer the owner a dime bag or a busted up surf board and its most likely yours.

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

You call that a Lemons car? I'll show you a proper Lemons car! That's right, a Saab 96amino for 500 bucks! What could possibly go wrong?

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

Damn!  That's almost free.  The guy will take guns on trade for that 96.  So you could give a gun to get a spork to take to the Lemons knife fight.

Gonna have to watch this one...

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

If that SAAB could turn even one lap, it would almost be a shoe-in for IoE.  I love the styling of the pre-900 SAABs, only the fact that they are FWD has kept me from owning one.

Incidentally, there's a BMW 735 on the Asheville, NC craigslist for $999.  Perfect.  I'm sure you could sell off $500 worth of interior crap.  Hell, I might buy the seats.

Um, the 90 supra with spare motor for $800 I saw today strikes me a bit better wink I'm hooked on Craigs list for Lemons donors now, even though Me and team have two runners and 3 in the works already!

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

Why hasn't anyone brought a FWD General Motors product with the supercharged 3800 engine to a Lemons race? SUPERCHARGER, people! You can't possibly lose! Here are a few reasonably priced examples I've found around the country:

Note to self, don't let it become known that I have a dryer duct CAI on Green.   Crap.

Who wants to be the first to enter a bus in Lemons?

http://images.craigslist.org/3m43p53lfZZZZZZZZZ95373eabd701bb21952.jpg

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

We had looked at entering a 1970s street-sweeper, but figured if we couldn't get the vacuum action working it wasn't worth it.

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

"The vehicle's original, manufacturer-stated curb weight may not exceed 4200 pounds. Individual waivers  may be granted; just don't ask about Peterbilts, zambonis, sidecars, or golf carts again. We already said no."

Don't think a bus is going to fly but then they let our 67 Fury race, I think it is pretty close in weight to the bus.

Re: Lemons Candidate Car Watch

oh trust me, people have tried the bus entering and the street sweeper thing...that goes with the whole peterbuilt/zambonis/golfcarts thing

now, one thing i did try that i could have made it totally legit, was a 1982 Chevy 1ton dually (regular cab, recently rebuilt 6.2L diesel, 2wd)

Jay was not having it, something about complaining the thing is as wide as the track itself, but i did find on edmunds that the 1992 version of the truck weighed 4600lbs...i think the older one would be able to be under the limit easily...especially after i was going to remove all the sheetmetal inside the bed and just put a frame to keep the bodywork propped up. and drop one of the 2 gas tanks...or maybe both and replace with a fuel cel. it would have been a lot of prep but it would have been pure awesome to run just for Lemons texas.

Friend of mine shot that 356 for one of my Down On The Street Bonus Edition posts a while back. Apparently it gets driven regularly.
