Topic: D-Spec Challenge at Vodden
If I had my way, everyone would be running nothing but Douglas Xtra Tracs.
And so was born the D-Spec Challenge...
Who? You, the Lemons racer that thumbs their nose at the automotive establishment. Fuck those manufacturers trying to get us to buy their ever improving products. We're buying our tires at Walmart.
What? Racing on Douglas Xtra Trac II tires, that's what. Or if you've got something equivalent, that's okay too. See extended rules below.
When? May 21-22, 2016 Vodden the Hell Are We Doing?
Where? Thunderhill, duh.
How? Respond in this forum if you want to join. We'll have stickers and trophies and shit.
Why? Because if your team name isn't Cerveza, you're probably not going to win anyway. Embrace mediocrity and enjoy life. You'll be happier that way. Also, when you beat some team swapping out corded RE-71Rs, you can give them that looooook.
Extended Rules
Tire equivalence rule: Douglas Xtra Trac II tires have a UTQG of 420, 45,000 mile warranty, and retail for $43.50 in 185/65/14. As long as your tire has similar properties, it's fine. Can you run Westlake RP18? Hell yes. Can you use Vitour Formula X, which are 400 treadwear and $10 more expensive? Well, if it's got a name as awesome as Formula X, then sure. Can you race on a brand new set of Hankook Optimo H727s from your rental car that coincidentally fit your racecar? No comment. Can you race on donuts spares? Unfortunately no. We wanted to, but Lemons HQ says their insurance won't allow it. A list of equivalent tires includes: Cooper CS3, Falken 828, General Altimax RT, GT Champiro VP1, Hankook Optimo H724/727, Nankang XR611, Nexen CP672, Ohtsu FP0612/FP7000, Primewell PS830/850, Veento G-2, Vitour Formula X/Galaxy R1, and Westlake RP18.
Cheap ass tire rule: If you happen to have some old Summer/sport tires lying around, you can mix them in if (a) the tire is no longer manufactured and (b) you're in the B or C class. B class cars can use 1 'sport' tire and C class can use 2.
Appearance rule: Paint your sidewalls white so you know who else is racing in class (and who has no class). This is an optional rule because Hertz doesn't want white tires, I mean no comment.
Donation rule: You must make a donation to the charity of at least $5. Doing so will get you a rad D-Spec sticker (see below) and put you on the official D-Spec Challenge list.
