Topic: On to Plan B

This was not how I had hoped to spend the early hours of Sunday morning:

The Volvo made it from Seattle to about five miles east of Florence, Oregon, when it started making a horrible grinding noise and coasted to a stop. Fortunately this was only about thirty miles from my father's place. Unfortunately, there was only space in his garage for Fords:

Even less fortunately, as near as we can tell without further disassembly, the input shaft for the forward transmission unit (the one between the clutch and the drive belts) broke. Parts are, of course, not available on this continent.

The local U-Haul wasn't open on Sunday, but I managed to get back to Seattle with the car on a tow dolly this evening (Monday). Plan B is to hop in the International tomorrow morning and join the rally at the end of Day One in Fallon, NV.

Re: On to Plan B

Well since it is broken, the only solution is to cage it and race it.
