Topic: Heckflosse redemption for East Coast Rally
So as some may have seen on facebook, our "team" is going to pilot a refrigerator, strangely shaped like a '64 220Sb Mercedes through the East coast rally in Jan and I thought I'd share some of its "resurrection", i.e get the brakes working, motor running and go!
The story goes it hasn't been on the road in an estimated 40 years, much of that spent in the back of a warehouse from the sounds (got independent confirmation of this from a random stranger we met at a local pick & pull that recognized the car when we stopped). It then sat outside for an unknown amount of time waiting for us to snatch it up and ruin it!
Overall its basically mint
- No rust (just rot in the rockers, floors, fenders, and trunk, nothing important)
- Runs like a sewing machine (dumped gas down carbs and coughed to life for 20-30 seconds when we looked at it)
- Stops on a dime (One caliper was removed because it was seized, the rear wheel cylinders are solid balls of what once was cast iron, and the ebrake handle is VERY shiney... great for admiring our reflections in as we barrel towards a snow bank)
Hoping to improve on atleast one or two of these in the coming two months. "Current progress"....
