Topic: 89 190e Mercedes no start, no spark, should be at Rally now!

Our POS 89 Mercedes 190e 2.6 drove great for 800 miles of testing before dying on a NYC highway 36 hours ago. We were forcibly towed off highway onto a side street and have been here since (to be fair, we all live a few miles from breakdown point).

It's 29 degrees out and we still can't get it started. It's "narrowed" down to having no spark.  Battery is good. OVP seems good, ICM? Distributor and wires seem good.

Right now we're just 4 hours behind. My last German car was an 85 Golf and I hated that too. Any pointers on this luxury crap can??

How many times we'll be burned by bad grounds I'll never know. See you guys on the road. (Probably)

Crank Position Sensor

Re: 89 190e Mercedes no start, no spark, should be at Rally now!

Correction, verify the switching unit about the size of a pack of playing cards on left front fender well, has a green wire with a round connector leading from the crankshaft position sensor to the switching unit. Set voltmeter to AC and check for signal. If signal is good, replace crank sensor.
