Topic: Exhaust passing through driver compartment ?

Im doing a engine swap, and my best path for the exhaust is on the drivers side inside the driving compartment along the floor..

Anyone else done this ?

of course I would box it in and vent it in/out from outside,

Anyone got any pic's of anything like this they have done ?

thanks

Do you like hot feet?  Melted shoes?  Do you enjoy steam baths and saunas?

Re: Exhaust passing through driver compartment ?

Yea, I have been rethinking this,  Buttonwillow 110 + exhaust makes a bbq inside the car

I think im going to mod the floor to fit it under the car

Re: Exhaust passing through driver compartment ?

Front engine cars typically get hot enough with the exhaust running under, let alone through.   Our RX-7 (hotter exhaust, granted) floor and trans tunnel would get so hot at Thunderhill, you couldn't touch it without gloves.  Two of our drivers actually received some rather irritating burns on their backsides from the conductive and radiant heat through the seat pan (we didn't have very good/thick padding).

I'd avoid it.

There are other options to consider.

I'll get some pics  and post tomorrow.
I've run exhaust through the cabin (sealing the floor penetration is really important),
but also cut the rocker panel to get some more clearance on the side for a different car.

At one point TEO wanted me to put a cover over the exhaust in the cabin,
but Jay said if we wanted to melt our brains he was fine with that.
The cover was a pain as I also had to add an additional muffler,
so that made it overly large. Sealing the floor penetration is really important.

Doesn't sound like fun to me.... I'd find another route. We beat the pass side floor up to hang ours.
