Topic: Button Turrible - Camping?

I am a glutton for punishment, kinda broke (I'm doing a glorious dumb thing after the race) and I also hate that longish drive in to the track in the morning from anywhere remotely civilization-like. I've got to bring a sleeping bag and pad anyway for the epic nature tour back to Texas. Does anyone have spare tent/RV/garage/etc. space to crash in for the Button Turrible weekend?

I get there Thursday evening. Alternately, I should test out the snoozeability of the press truck, as I must. But if it sucks (it might?) it's uncomfortable, too stuffy, or too inviting for gross flies, it would rule to have a backup plan.

LMK!

Re: Button Turrible - Camping?

Unless one of my guys brings a camper or RV I just throw a tarp and mat on the trailer or the ground and bed down there. Back when Jay ran Arse-Freeze there and it got down to 28F I just hung a space blanket over me, supported by a jack handle and spare tires. It kept the frost off and therefore my bag stayed (mostly) dry. Unless it is raining or really buggy you don't actually need tents, etc. We don't have much dew out here.

Also, make sure you autograph my copy of HOFAW at this race.

Oooooooh I'm gonna have to check the weather, then. Haha. Looks like 60s-90s, though, plus I'll have cold-weather gear on me, too.

a nice battery powered fan goes a a long way when it's in the 90's. I sleep in the bed of my truck every year at buttonwillow without issue.

The enclosed trailer of team Thunderchicken is available. 4.5 star rated on Air BnB. It even includes a large air mattress w/elect. air pump. Very comfy. You're welcome.

Re: Button Turrible - Camping?

I also have space. I have a giant toy hauler, and it appears at least one of the "off the ground" couch-beds is available. It's air conditioned.

If you'd like, you can alternatively spread your camp roll out next to the car.

Woot. Looks like I'm set, then.

Got my REAL BALLS and might or might not snooze in or on a press car, too.

Re: Button Turrible - Camping?

I won't be there until Friday morning... I am starting from far away on Thursday.

That gives you the first night in the press truck so you'll know you hate it. smile
