Topic: Our race car lives!

So me and my 2 buddies finally found a great car for us. The MSR Houston race really opened our eyes to what Lemons was all about. We feel this car meets all our wants.
Kind of an odd ball car
5spd, turbo should make it fun to drive.
CHEAP!

Drug it over to our world HQ (my driveway) and our wrench had it running after roughly 30min of magical mechanical stuff. We were doing good until it started leaking oil....so more work tomorrow. The adventure is on. We have a car, a few guys who have no idea what we are doing, and we are super excited to be doing it. This is going to be awesome.  Video of car running can be found here...

Re: Our race car lives!

Hahaha.  Determined that was due to a leaking turbo feed line. It is being repaired currently.

Old thread revival. I didn't see until your recent tire thread that you've got a daytona, then I went digging. You're in for a world of fun, if you're a masochist that is.

Like I said in the tire thread, shoot me an email and I'll fill you in on what we did to finally get some reliability out of our '89. Once we got things working kinda right the car was a riot to drive, but man it will kick you while you're down if it feels like it.

Leaking turbo oil feed is what sent us down a wild goose chase for race #2. Just replace it with a real stainless braided AN line.

Awesome. I'll send you a message. Car has been at the chassis
shop since February getting its cage. We expect it back this week.

Chassis shop...wheel and tire "package"...are you racer Richie Rich from the wait list we keep hearing about?  Chassis shop = tree, come-along and hammers while wheels as tires never come as a package...you get the wheels at the PnP half price sale and the tires you order online.

Re: Our race car lives!

Hmmm.....someone could do a Richie rich theme car, might be fun...

Re: Our race car lives!

Leaking oil on a turbo endurance race car? Shouldn't be a problem. That is exactly the spirit of Lemons! Have fun!

Someone did but I think it was in California.

Re: Our race car lives!

Richie Rich from the Wait list is the black e36 with minimal theme, just green numbers, it runs Joliet and was at Road Atlanta. They have a super sweet school bus hauler.

Thats not oil. It's sweating power!

Re: Our race car lives!

We have a FB page if you guys want to follow along as we prep the car. It will get more consistent updates since we now have the car back with a cage installed. Ill get some pictures up tomorrow of the cage, see if you guys think it should pass tech, and if not what to change.
