Re: Crapcan Play List

Don't forget OK Go, the band that had a Lemons car in their video, even if the song was not about cars.

Here's something more recent, takes place in a car, drivers are suited up  --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … 7H6c#at=40

How did I ever forget about Oakland blues legend Troyce Key and "I Got a New Car?" I saw him perform this Malaise Era automotive classic at Eli's Mile High Club, circa 1982.

Re: Crapcan Play List

Not car-themed, but I've always thought Bo Diddley's "Aztec" was one of the best night-driving instrumentals ever recorded.

On the subject of drivin' instrumentals, the Modern Lovers' "Egyptian Reggae" has always been one of my favorites.

Wall of Voodoo's "On Interstate 15" is another good one.

The recording quality in 1927 wasn't so great, but Weaver & Beasley's "Bottleneck Blues" usually gets on my all-instrumental driving playlist.

Byrne and Eno's "Regiment" also belongs on the Driving Instrumentals list.

Re: Crapcan Play List

Another great road song from Richard Thompson is his paean to the 1952 Vincent Black Lightning.

Re: Crapcan Play List

Phil mentioned ZZ Top's "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" but I find Dwight Yoakum's version better for some reason.

On Supersexy Swingin' Sounds, there is a remix of White Zombie's "El Phantsmo and the Chicken Run Blast-o-rama" that always gets me fired up to drive briskly...

Re: Crapcan Play List

I mentioned these guys before, but not in this thread. If you like Ramones, Motorhead, early Rolling Stones, Eric Von Zipper and his gang from the Beach Party movies then you gotta love the Lords of Altamont - I believe this video is them performing a song called "The Split"

Re: Crapcan Play List

came across this while hunting Lemons vids on youtube. its catchy, and has a cool car and a pretty (granted, sour-faced) girl. Also what i think is a poorly simulated burnout.
so, in conclusion its pretty awesome. can someone ID the car?

I'm pretty sure the car in the video is a GAZ-24 Volga.

<resurrected thread>

Just heard a song that must be so obscure that we never heard it  - but's been hidden in plain sight all the time:

"Crown Victoria" - Presidents of the USA

Re: Crapcan Play List

"Ode to my Car".

I am not an Adam Sandler fan, but his "Ode to my Car" is the perfect Lemons theme song.  Some may know it as the "Piece of Shit Car" song.  It fits my Lemons project car perfectly.  I think I'll play it during my first tech inspection.

Re: Crapcan Play List

Always liked Steve Earle's "Copperhead Road" too, for the middle part about buying an old Dodge from an auction to tun into a moonshine runner: "Daddy and my uncle tore that engine down.  I still remember that rumbling sound".
