Topic: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

I'll be moving to Chicago in early September, so I thought I'd try to find a team out there. I'm not super fast, but I'm consistent, safe, and reasonably easy on the equipment. I've driven at NJMP and Thompson this year, and will be driving at Loudon in October. I'm a half-decent wrench, and I've taken a couple of welding classes. Most importantly, I'm totally happy to pull my weight funding-wise. Let me know if anyone's looking. Thanks!

Re: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

our car is based out of Southern Wisconsin, 2 of us own it, and we have one semi permanent Arrive and drive, we seem to be always looking for a 4th driver and would love to get a consistent person in that role, Our car is the Bread van, it is a forgiving and fun car to drive, but it is small, that said I am a bit on the large side, and I wear the car, you cannot be bigger than me lol I'm 5-10 240  let me know more particulars about yourself
(we are full for Oct Gman)

Re: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

I'm 5'11, about 215-220. Is it vertical or horizontal size that's the issue? smile The team I'm currently on runs a Miata, and I fit in that ok. What races do you guys typically run?

Re: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

You would fit fine if you can fit a miata. Let me know if you would like a test fit

Sounds good. I'll ping you once I get moved and settled in, see if I fit in the car and get along with the team.

Re: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

Not to step on Willy's post, but I guess I am. I have a class B Ford Escort ZX2 and live 70 miles SW of Chicago. Currently the team is just me. I have had many A&D drivers including Willy and his semi permanent A&D drive my car a few times. I have done 15+ races to date. Overall the car is pretty reliable with the right drivers. Fitting in the car would be no problem.

I would like to find somebody who wants to be a full time member of the team as well as help me keep the car going. I'm getting a little burnt out trying to keep everything going myself. Far to many projects and not enough time.

I'm entered in the October Gingerman race, but not sure if I'm going to do the race or not. The card needs a bit of work from the last race in April. Plus I need at least two drivers. It's been tough with my schedule this summer finding the time to get things done with the car.

Contact me if you have any interest.

Re: Driver/wrench looking for team near Chicago

I'm definitely looking to be a full team member, rather than just A&D. Not sure if I'd be in for Gingerman, I'm committed to Hooptiefest the next weekend and I'm not sure how the new job would react to me taking off 2 weeks in a row. I'll get in touch when I get out there.
