Topic: Any Examples of Triumph GT6 Cage?

I have GT6 and would appreciate any previous examples of cage builds for them.
I think I've seen a GT6 in Lemons, of course a spitfire is the same.
What I found online was mostly vintage cars that have different rules.

Just FYI in case you didn't know, a Triumph Spitfire/GT6 has a frame,
but it is very narrow, providing no strength to attach a rollbar along the perimeter.
I can ask the Evil Genius, but if someone has one that I can see already, that is helpful.

Re: Any Examples of Triumph GT6 Cage?

For sure engage Evil Genius but when I inquired about a TR4 (which has a similar frame layout)  the answer was outriggers off the frame that the cage lands upon.

Re: Any Examples of Triumph GT6 Cage?

Take a look at this thread on a lotus elite, which has a similar challenge of using a central back bone style frame. You need to build the cage out from the frame.

Ping John Pagel about it and work with him to make a plan.

Lotus loved the central backbone chassis for a while. This is what the Elan guys do to cage the car.

John will be able to help you out, being a Triumph guy and currently having at least two Triumphses at his shop right now.

Re: Any Examples of Triumph GT6 Cage?

The central backbone is the lightest way to go, perfect for roboracer where the driver needs no protection. smile

I was thinking of boxing up the frame out to the edges, the body itself provides no strength at all,
and this one has some rust so even more so.

Re: Any Examples of Triumph GT6 Cage?

I know it can be done, there used to be a Spitfire running in CA Lemons. The cage will probably look like the illustration of the Elan above. Can't see any other way...
