Re: Your Bucket List Car

Supercharged Elise is the way to go. Exige looks more agressive, but having that extra viability out the back is so much better for sanity. Mild supercharger kit to bring it to 260-300hp and you're perfect. Stock NA car is still fun, but that extra grunt so you don't have to rev the snot out of it constantly is nice.

I'm with you on the 944s completely though. I'd love a turbo, but wouldn't turn away an NA.

On my bucket list.. I will someday get a 66 or 67 Vette Stingray. Those are so bad ass! https://www.autolist.com/chevrolet-corv … 376S123720 this one was just listed near me and is actually not that bad price wise, tempted to get it but might wait until after winter.

What is that? Some sort of jacked up Corvair pickup?

Fourteen time loser. You'd think I'd know better by now.

Oh wow, that is seriously cool.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

Oddly, I am starting to think that the build we are doing on the 1948 Plymouth has indirectly become a bucket list car.  I mean, it will suck a bit for the first few races but what we are doing is as close as I will ever get to a hot rod AND it is still technically street legal.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

I have had and hooned a 3rd gen rx7... Scca meets, mountain roads, etc.

All that taught me is I don't know how to drive.

It did teach me that discretion is important, and I declined an aggressive pass in one of those "driver experiences" because I didn't trust the driver of the lambo my Ferrari racer rider guy was sure I could pass.

I guess that's useful Lemons info...

Slow cars are more fun on track than fast cars.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

I'd second the Lotus Evora 400. Never driven one, but the want is very, very strong.

Also, an original NSX. I worked with one of the Farners in this article and they let me drive the white one in the photos.

Either a 1989 Turbo Trans-Am or a 1980 Turbo Trans-am with a turbo V8 other than the stock 301 crapper.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

I always wanted a Ferrari growing up (and still do), but as I've grown older and now that I have been on track, I've tempered that a fair amount.  I can't justify spending 250k+ on a car that I wouldn't be able to flog repeatedly (thinking of maintenance costs).  If I had total f-you money, I'd probably veer away from them for a purpose built high-end track car that's not a Ferrari.  The handling on the 510 (granted, with 1/5th the power and 1/100,000th the budget) makes me think I'll be disappointed in a lot of cars.

That being said, an F40, all day, every day.  I'm a grown ass man and still have a poster of one on my wall.

Exige V6S is the best of everything, supercharged shove, V6 sound, almost as light as an Elise and still very much a Lotus. He's me about to be kicked off an airfield for doing stupid things in one;

968 beats 944, 240 bhp from a naturally aspirated engine, super-reliable too.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

Anyway, my bucket list;

1 - Evora 2+2 NA, early one please, manual in British racing green.
2 - Maserati 3500GT and a resident mechanical for the inevitable.
3 - Facel Vega, just for general masturbatory purposes.
4 - Jaguar XJC.
5 - Abarth 595 for daily plodding.
6 - Volvo 855R in that mental yellow, birch wood dash option.

Please, baby Jesus, make all this happen. I've been good.

Not your fantasy car, but the car you DO or WILL outright own (not just be making payments on) before you go.

To be reasonable, let's cap it at a maximum of TWO cars.

no need to change any previous posts, but just to keep focus away from Pie-in-the-Sky wishes

and stick to the whole "Promise to divorce if necessary & absolutely WILL own" cars.

My ulterior motive is that this could maybe be one of those "If I see one available, I'll let you know" functional lists.

Re: Your Bucket List Car

A 911 Turbo convertible would be awesome. I just haven't been able to justify spending the money. I will probably start in the shallow end of the Porsche pool and get a 718 Convertible.
