Topic: Lemons 360 Degree Camera Footage - Rust Belt GP - SakaiCar

At the Rust Belt GP on 30-June-2019  - we experimented with a Garmin Virb 360 camera.  It happened to capture Jimmy Pellarari of Autoweek (mostly) avoiding an accident at the end of the back straight.

You can view this on any computer and spin the perspective around - it is even cooler to view it in a VR system like the Oculus go.  For me, this is far closer to the in car experience.  If you have a gaming VR system that can do YouTube - the above URL should give you an immersive experience.

We are pretty pleased with this first experiment but will spend a bit of time tweaking the location of the Garmin VIRB 360 for the next race to move the stitching to a less interesting area of the car.

We will be bringing the video and an Oculus to the Topeka race in case you want to watch it in Virtual Reality.  Of course our drivers won't wear the Oculus while driving.

Here are the details:

Camera Cover: https://amzn.to/2ljzndP (important)
Auto power mount: https://amzn.to/2li1jPd
Oculus Go: https://amzn.to/2jQSuvc (for fun viewing)

The price of the camera has droped from $900 to $600 in a few months.

Have fun.

Very cool! Thanks for posting.

I recently got a Vuze 180 stereoscopic camera. Just need to figure out where/how to mount it. If you have any tips for mounting, I'm all ears.

I used the RAM Mount ATV/UTV Strap Clamp Roll Bar Mount.  I am going to place the camera closer to where the passenger's heat might be in order to be able to watch the gauges while viewing the footage.
