Topic: Need a auto body term please
I know that when you take height out of a roof it's referred to as "Chopped", what is it called when you have width taken from a rear or front end body?

Narrowed is the term I use. I narrowed the camaro hood 6 inches to fit the Mazdamaro mx-3.
I don't know of any of term used. Channeling narrows the frame on a hotrod.
Thanks, the project is a motorcycle trike, we are using the FWD portion of a VW Jetta as the drivetrain. I'd love to re-body it with a classic finned 50's or 60's rear clip but they are way to wide.
Guess I could just put some 50's on it

Channeling is when they build an inset channel in the bottom if the body that the frame rails fit within so that the body sits lower on the chassis.
I would guess the term you are looking for is sectioning. You cut the piece into halves, either remove or add sections and weld back together.
Thank you, that's it
