Re: 1985 Dodge Daytona Turbo

Is that cage legal for 2020?  I was under the impression that the diagonal bar needs to be one continual piece.

Re: 1985 Dodge Daytona Turbo

Car was built in 2017 for the 2018 season and the 2018 rules. It shouldn't be an issue.

I believe you read the: How To Not Fail Lemons Tech Inspection, wherein on pp. 2, 3, and 4, the illustrations show the tube as continuous, _and_ include the text: "Hoop diagonal (must be continuous top to bottom)"; but on pp. 5 and 14, are only _shown_ as continuous, and do not include that text. These are all the illustrations of the hoop diagonal in that document.

The RULES, however, only say: "At minimum, cage must include: ...; one main-hoop diagonal; ... Each major loadbearing member must be formed from a single, continuous tube."

If this passed tech somewhere, clearly the TEXT of the rules was applied, and the diagonal was either not considered to be a 'major loadbearing member', or, that two welded tubes in the same line are considered continuous.

As an aside, also note: the rules do not specify the diagonal needs to top out near the driver's head as shown in the illustrations in the "HTNFLTI"; something I'm still noodling.
