Topic: Seat belt recertification on the cheap

Replacing belts every 2 years sucks. This time I bought a couple sets of RCI belts from Summit and was stoked to see they include a coupon for 1st time recert for only $20, every one after that is $60. Even crazier, they'll swap another manufacturer's expired belts for a new set for $60/$100 (latch/cam-lock).

I think that is only a problem in New Jersey. But good to know.

This is an everyone problem:

3.F.2.a Five- or Six-Point Harnesses Mandatory.  Five- or six-point harnesses are mandatory, including fifth or fifth/sixth “anti-submarine” belt. All harnesses must be in excellent, near-new condition, properly mounted, and carry SFI or FIA approval tags. Harnesses with expiration dates are not valid after the expiration date. Harnesses with a manufacture date but no expiration date are acceptable for two years after manufacture.

For reference, FIA belts are good for 5 years but can't be re-certified. PoTAYto, poTAHto.

Also, Demon Tweeks out of the UK has some excellent deals on FIA belts and while the international shipping will take ~6 weeks, it's still quite affordable.
