Re: Fender Flares

Bricoop.

You have removed the bed.
You might fail tech inspection due to a missing bed under the new rules.

In order to be 100% compliant in this matter, this is what I would do.

1. Remove the exoskeleton.
2. Re instal the bed.
3. Form a new exoskeleton on and above the stock bed.

An awsome Tesla theme will suck if you are disqualified from racing.

But PLEASE!!!!!!
WORRY LESS ABOUT THE THEME, AND MORE ABOUT SAFELY PASSING TECH INSPECTION .

Cheers.

Re: Fender Flares

You shredded the bed, didnt you?

The old green bed is in small pieces, isnt it?

My advice may have changed a little.

1.  Email Pagel.
Show him what you have done.

(You probably should print off the rules, and re read them for 2 days with all your team mates.  This would have saved you a lot of time)

2. You probably need to buy another bed.
3. Remove the exoskeleton.
4. cut slots on the new bed so it fits around the rear white cage bars, near where the dog was, and install it in the stock position.
3.Repair the new bed slots.
4. Install new exoskeleton
5. Finish theme
6. Race.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is how i read the rules.

I am not a judge.
Pagel is.
Ask Pagel, and then do what he says.

Re: Fender Flares

If i only had 9 days,
I would email pagel NOW.

i would gut the exo skeleton.
Forget the theme.
Re install a stock bed, and re read the rules a lot.

If you got this wrong, there is no telling what else you might have missed.

Fire suppression?
Fire extinguishers?
Drip pan?
Jack stands?
Driver license experiation date on all drivers?
Hans device?
Etc.

Paying all that money, and not being allowed to race would suck.
Please follow ALL The rules, not MOST like you joked about in your fifth post.

They will black flag you.

Good luck.
Have fun.
Be safe.

Re: Fender Flares

Thanks, Bob.  Pagel gave me the OK, but final decision will come at the track, of course.  And of course we sent it to the shredders, but I've got an extra $23 for duct tape and zipties.  The "most" comment was in jest.

I tried to get Bob Murray in the truck with us, but he couldn't make it work.  He is one of the most gracious people I've met.  We went over the plan with him and he liked it.  He also gave us a few good pointers on spares.

I've got checklists for my checklists.  I started reading the rules over a year ago and have read them at least dozen times.  Removing a truck bed after seeing others do the same isn't quite the same as missing a fire supression system.  The truck showed up at my house ready to roll onto the track and has previously been tech'd 3 times.  Don't take this to mean I dont appreciate your input.

One of my buddies built the IROC maiden.  He said replace the frame rails.  I told him no way.

For any other new comers, go to a race with a team.  You'll learn so much more than you can read on the forums.  I even bought the big fire extinguisher wink

Bob-See you at Buttonwillow, I hope.

PS-licenses expired in 2020 are being accepted under COVID.

Re: Fender Flares

I don't think it's a coincidence we have drawn first tech time.  smile

Re: Fender Flares

The wooden fenders were tested a few times this weekend. They survived better than many steel fenders.
