Topic: VW Phaeton?

Has anyone used a Phaeton in a rally?  I drive a W12 as a daily driver.  Wonderful highway cruiser.  I can't bring myself to gut it for a Lemons race just yet but I was curious if anyone has used one and where it would be classified.

Re: VW Phaeton?

Are you close to Pittsburgh, PA?

I will now DM you my phone number. If you are interested in a standalone ECU running your W12 I would love to fly to Pittsburgh and spend a weekend around your W12 smile

Re: VW Phaeton?

you made me read, and learn something.

Modern German cars don't get many points. If it's a really crappy example, then it might get some....and being a W12 should be worth something, you'd think? But if you take it on the rally just to have fun and don't worry about how it's classified, you'll do fine. I doubt any have been used yet in a Rally...I don't pay that close of attention, unfortunately.

I Survived Hell on Wheels, Car Weeeak, Route Sucky Suck, etc.

If you're interested in the car, I'd be more than willing to sell it.  I need the money for parts for my camarobird that I'm builidng for Pittrace.

Re: VW Phaeton?

(1) It's a fine rally car. The W12 probably isn't even going to be too awful just driving around at 45-70 mph.

(2) It won't score a TON of points on year/country of origin, but we're well aware of the W12's horrendous history. You'll get some points for that. Points are overrated anyway.

(3) There's an above-average chance that your cross-country road trip pushes the needle into "Ready to Race" territory.

(4) Put the W12 into the Camarobird.
