Topic: cage /tech question photo link

Dear salty lemon gurus, I humbly ask for your help passing tech.

My previously "chumps" raced status post police impounded did NOT at ALL getaway car has a funky harness attachment point has makes me wondering if it will fail tech.

The harness bar has an additional harness bar 6 inches lower.
This bar is attached w #6 allen bolt clamps and a drop down bar

This is the attachment point for harness straps.

Looks like Summit sells "lockdown harness bars" kinda like it.
The safety gear otherwise seems solid and first rate.
I imagine I could just rethread over main bar-I hate to hold up the tech line however.

Will this pass tech?
Also is BIR in Minnesota a go this year?

Thank you!

Hit him up.

Re: cage /tech question photo link

No way,  harness bar should be welded and made of similar cage tubing.  If the harness bar in the car is to high just weld another one lower where it should be.

That won't pass, either, as it looks like the main bar is too high, which is probably why that extension was added in the first place. The harness straps must extend backwards at an angle between horizontal and fifteen degrees downwards. With this main bar, it looks like they would be angled upwards. Have a look at page fifteen of the "How To Not Fail..." guide:

I agree that the solution would be something with similar geometry but with welds instead of clamps. Check with John Pagel for any additional pointers before committing to anything, though.
