Topic: Kill switch quit working

After 6 months of testing with no problems, we went to load the car for NOLA. Would not start; No spark at plugs etc. Using a meter we traced it back to the Pyrotech kill switch. When we rotated lever very slowly occasionaly we would get 12V. Nothing at ON detent. We wired it as per instructions and it would kill the car at any RPM. Have another coming Fedex. Just wondering if others had problems. Cheap item compared to our NHRA switches. Thanks Stephen

Re: Kill switch quit working

Not specifically but I know the switches have a finite life (number of cycles, number cycles at full load) and failure have been reported in general around that.  Infant death for manufactured parts are also a thing and in the past it was as much as 1%.

Re: Kill switch quit working

And that's why you want to use it as little as you possibly can. It only needs to Kill a fully running car once to work. 70-100 Amps is a lot to switch with a little plastic jobby like that very often. Shut as much down as you can BEFORE flipping the Kill Switch.

Always carry a spare and be prepared to jump the one you have to troubleshoot. As mentioned they fail eventually.
