Topic: Rally points - what if your German hooptie is secretly Brazilian?

So, here's the bonus points for where your hooptie is made:

+...
+100 For Italian
+125 For French
+150 For English
+250 For Warsaw Pact....
"

Where's a Brazilian made VW (that can still rust in the Bay Area under cover - yay) fit in the hierarchy?

(though given the Swedish Bonus for the PNW rally I'm tempted to give Mike H. a run for this money in something more Scandahoovian)

I'm out of luck this time around, as my Volvo is Dutch.

If you think your car has identity issues, I've got a 40 year old mitsubishi galant fake-naming itself as an american "muscle" car.

So I guess I get a -50 points for Japanese?

Although maybe the 1980 dodge challenger was so butt-turrible that the judges will have pity on me...

I...I need to see this VW. Bus or something more obscure?

(Big fan of "more obscure," for the record.)

My guess is a Fox, the 80s sub-Golf model which lacked 5th gear and power steering...

You win!  Wife's '88 teacher car that she bought in about '94.

Fun little thing (rumor has it was one of the last cars made with flat glass in all windows), with 13" wheels, good visibility, and the aforementioned Armstong-type steering gear. smile

Failed smog a year+ ago here in Cali and with Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection it might be a pricey fix.   Super simple to work on, though.

Any teams still racing one?  Last one I heard of was East Coast at least six years ago.

Since it's Brazilian, there should be extra points if it shows up waxed.

I'll see myself out.
