Topic: Frame damage repair near NJMP Millville NJ

Hello everyone! Myself and some friends recently acquired a Miata racecar shell with a cage that had been hit. The hit is in a slightly awkward location as you can see in the photos and we’re trying to find someone with a frame jig that would be willing to pull on the car to try to get it straightened out as much as possible. It doesn’t I have to be perfect by any means, we just want to find someone who would be willing to try! So far no local body shops want to bother helping us because we are a weird request that won’t net them a lot of money. Is there anyone out there within about an hours drive of New Jersey Motorsports Park that we might try talking to? We’re based in Millville, NJ.

Thanks for any help!

We hope to see some of you at NJMP in June!

Re: Frame damage repair near NJMP Millville NJ

If it runs and drives straight I'd just hang some new metal on it and roll. We bashed out trans am up way worse than that, pulled it out with the pick up and went racing the next day.

/agree

On the old saturn, we rigged up some chain and actually used the lift arm to yank the metal out. It doesn't have to be perfect just straighten it out.

FWIW if you just use the door skins you'll save weight and they "bang out" much easier than with all that sub structure.

Re: Frame damage repair near NJMP Millville NJ

FWIW, our miata has a similar amount of "frame damage" but it aligns just fine and drives fine, ours was also a retired champ car smile . I don't tell the judges that, of course, and tell them that it tracks weird because they always get all fired up when seeing another miata. If you can get the static alignment within reason I'd send it. Miatas also have A LOT of aftermarket options for additional alignment adjustment assuming you run out of adjustment on the factory cams... we really are lucky because miatas give you full adjustment for everything so it makes band-aiding frame damage pretty easy.

edit: if needed, at most, I'd strap it to pickup and give it a couple good side-ways yanks. Just make sure your smart about it so you don't pull off the hookup point or snap the strap and send a hook flying.

Luckily I have a door for it! Thanks for all the advice. We may just pull it out ourselves!
