Topic: Important to watch video: know what you are getting into....

A fellow Lemons racer friend sent me this video from one of his ex Arrive&Drive members, Mark Petronis, who had a horrific accident on the Lightning track at NJ
Racing with some other series, not Lemons
And made a video of his accident, and his recovery, mostly from burns

tough to watch, but important....to know the risks involved and appreciate them
and know that you are partially responsible for the safety of your drivers....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUS5tYBLycc

A few years back, there was another video of a driver (?semi professional) who was involved in a fire crash, that was also a well done video, and informative....can't remember the link, probably YouTube, I think it was posted here...
and as I recall, he only had burns on his ankles where his driving socks did not completely cover him....!

For me
I need to figure out how to keep my visor from fogging up, so I could keep it down
And how/where to get an automatic fire extinguisher set up
upgrade my fire suit

Hope everyone has a safe driving season this year,....and forever
Plan to be safe
Do what you can, buy what you can ...... to minimize chances of injury in an accident

Take care

Wow, that’s something, glad you shared.  I’ve thought a lot about how I need to do better with my visor, I was thinking more about projectiles but he’s a good example of how it saved his face in a fire.

Thanks for sharing that. I have been trying to find a video/story I saw years ago of a Honda Civic hatch where the flames got sucked in the open back window. It may have been at a HPDE where the driver suffered neck burns before he could get the car stopped and bail out.

Speaking of bailing out, even Dale Jr said he forgot how in the “heat of the moment” in a strange car (Corvette)

It should be mandatory viewing for everyone, along with the video that started this thread:
