Topic: 1980 Plymouth Fire Arrow $1500 OBO

Selling my 1980 Plymouth Fire Arrow that was originally prepared for SCCA ITB.
I had purchased it a few years ago to race in Lemons/Champcar, but ultimately lost interest in it and started racing in Spec Miata.
Unfortunately it spun a rod bearing at it's first test day and I haven't gotten around to repair it.
I did have the engine out and it should be serviceable with new bearings and a polish on the crank.
Engine parts are not too hard to find as the G54B engine was found in the Conquest/Starion as well as various Chrysler K cars.

Otherwise ready to run on the track as it has a SCCA-spec cage, fresh rotors and Porterfield R4-E pads, and a set of 1 lap-old 15x8 wheels with RE-71's.
Would need fire suppression, belts, and the included Kirkey seat to be re-mounted (original mount included) as I switched to an OMP HTE-R (not included).

Specs:
Engine: 2.6L G54B with custom header, upgraded carb, and Accusump
Transmission: Mitsubishi 5-speed (can be swapped to Conquest/Starion 5-speed, need to convert to hydraulic clutch)
Front Suspension: MacPherson with adjustable Koni shocks and spherical suspension joints
Rear Suspension: Solid rear axle with custom adjustable leaf springs and upgraded shocks
Brakes: Single piston calipers front and rear, front pads same as 72-78 RX-3 and 80-83 Corolla sedan, rear brakes same as Conquest/Starion
Fuel: 12 gallon Jazz fuel cell and Holley fuel pump
Weight: 2225lbs without driver

Included spares are the aforementioned 15x8 Bassets and 205/50-R15 RE-71's, a box of oil filters, a fuel filter, spare carb, fuel pump, rear axle/hub, front control arm, front strut/hub, front fenders

Looking for $1500 OBO, car is located Canton, MI

Wow!!  If only I could convince my teammates to field a second car!  This is awesomeness!!  That is a heck of a price!  It'll be sold by the time I type this...

Do you, by chance have a title...? I would drive it on the street... in Lemons Rallies... to work... :-)

I do have the title in hand, as well as the old SCCA log books as a bonus!

Re: 1980 Plymouth Fire Arrow $1500 OBO

Looks like the cage only needs one major modification to make it LEMONS-legal.
Gotta change where the back stays fall.

A lot of potential here.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The back stays mount to the top of the rear frame rails, the same rails that the rear leaf springs mount to.

The back stays can't terminate behind the rear edge of the back tires...(this includes spreader plates)

If backstays are the only thing it needs, that would be pretty trivial to rectify.  And yes, those backstays are not Lemons legal.

Thanks for the clarification. As you guys said, sounds like a relatively straightforward fix.

That is interesting rear suspension setup, never seen a leaf spring shackle like that. do you have more pictures of the setup?

That engine reliably got me through the rust belt ramble with no issues last year in an equally rare 1980 Challenger.

The Arrow was essentially the same drive train as the Challenger (and the Sapporo, which is even more rare).

Standard carburetor replacement is a Weber 32/36. The factory carb was a mikuni carb that was prone to issues with things like the auto-choke. I got the chinesium weber carb and had no issues at all (just required a quality fuel pressure regulator).

Yes, it is a 2.6.  The carb on it is a Weber 32/26, but the spare is a Weber 38 that I never got to try.

I don't have any pictures at the moment and I have moved the car to my buddy's place to store it so I can't get more quickly.

Re: 1980 Plymouth Fire Arrow $1500 OBO

The car is still available!
