Re: Unofficial Rust Belt Ramble Chat
If I had my own Car Dolly I'd take a trip to Detroit and take it off your hands! B20's aren't too hard to work on, and swap fairly easy. Good Start to an overall Lemons car if it's cheap enough!
The B20 isn't really the bad part--it needs an alternator, a steering leak needs fixing, the transmission "sticks" in park (so I park it in neutral), rear brake shoes are shot, and it smoked a lot the past few times I ran it (after sitting for months). A lot of structural rust. 290k miles. It's one of those things where I could revive it enough to make it roadworthy.
I still don't have Earl Burner running yet. Typical day in the driveway yesterday--an hour job took all afternoon. But the AC compressor is replaced, and an initial vacuum test shows it's not leaking. The head's finally going back on today. And hopefully the rest will go smoothly.
