Topic: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

Bought during the Great Race as 74 cop car broke. Dont need it and everything works. It has a roller paint hotel parking lot paint job and 4 holes in the roof where the speaker was (keeping that). Just put a waterpump on it. Would make a great Rally car. Located in SW La. with a clean title in my name. Delivery possible stephenontheriveratyahoo dotcom for pics

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

ER, i think you added a extra zero onto the price ...
a JAG with 4 holes in the roof and roller paint job = ~500 bucks

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

Shes not for everybody. At 500 you could race it. May depreciate it and do that. Thanks for looking

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

yea, one in okay shape ( without holes in roof and with real paint) is only valued at  $4500 on KBB...
nice price or CRACK PIPE

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

FWIW, this will have the upgraded tensioner guides that don't break like the earlier XJ8/XK8's did.

The ask is not unreasonable:

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

PRICE INCREASE 5173!!!! Cold AC no warning lights, sun roof, heated seats on and on and on. 68k miles. As Nick once said "This could be you!!! Runs like a train" Phish

Re: NO LONGER AVAILABLE: 2006 Jag XJ8 $5000

Updated for the lower mileage; I think you're offering it at a nice discount (I couldn't find a clean way to account for the extra corrosion protection, or the excessive heat release vents):

With all due respect, the only troll behavior in this thread is coming from you.

... though I admit, responding to your several disparaging comments regarding OP's pricing decision is the response that a troll is looking for.

Which, of course, means I fell into your trap.

So: you win, I lose.

here is the short answer.
this is for Lemons CARS
500 dollar cars
or, if its not a 500 car.
then something like this is appropriate
"Offering a 24 Hours of Lemon's race car for sale. We have one 1982 Toyota Celica Supra MKII that has a racing seat and roll cage added,  . We are selling the 1982 car for $500, and selling the safety equipment seperately for an additional $4,000. "

500 dollar car with 4000 cage and seat

not your $5000 Jag you cut holes in the roof and roller painted when you went off your meds... and , and still want retail price

As Judge Phil says

"no Lowballerz!"
"just testing the waters!"
"I KNOW WHAT THIS IS WORTH!

(Is this a case of predilection envy?)

First, I commend you on your many postings in this sub-forum, which have the price and location in the subject - bravo.

However: Please stop. Your 'logic' is faulty.

It's starting to get entertaining, and I have other things I need to do. (Good thing there's an Eagles playoff game on in the background, and I'm administering laundry tonight - the jeans aren't dry yet, and I'm just sitting here.)

Are you self-aware enough to understand that you are specifically arguing AGAINST the rule you reference?

By that, I mean: you are recommending advertising SAFETY EQUIPMENT in the CARS for Sale or Rent sub-topic.

(... letting that sink in for a moment ...)

So if you're going to split hairs, be clear what your goals are.

I could go different ways here:
1. I could ignore you.
(That didn't happen)
2. I could state a logical, cogent argument against your position.
(Included below)
Or:
3. WOAH there. - I'M the self-important appointed forum cop for this sub-topic - NOT you! (I could go crazy time)

Let's go with #2.

So:
If you are one of the forum moderators, you're clearly not being as stringent regarding other postings as you are regarding this one; do you have a feud going with the OP?

If you're not one of the moderators, you should be directing your comments to a moderator for resolution, and not taking it upon yourself to be the sub-topic cop.

*Just like _THIS_ post, if you get the drift.*

Unfortunately, it's also clear you either didn't read the OP, or didn't understand it. You should go back and read it again; familiarity will be important for the next issue:

It's also clear you didn't understand the rules as written in this case; for your convenience, here is part of the text I think you're trying to enforce:

2. Lemons candidates ONLY or vehicles that could be used to drag your hooptie to a Lemons event. This is not the place to sell your vintage hot rod or other vehicle that is in no way ever going to be in a Lemons race. (Italics added)

There are several rules of document construction ("construction", in this case, refers to "how to construe (meaning: understand and interpret)" the meaning of the text) that it's useful to be familiar with.

I would characterize the above #2 rule as "not entirely clear".

Without going into detail, the rules here are "adhesion" rules (like HOA rules): you either accept them to participate (purchase), or move on.

That also means that any ambiguity is construed against the drafter, not the participant.

So: if restrictions are not obvious and clear, the tie goes to the user.

Here, we have a vehicle that was purchased during a "Lemons RALLY" to supplement another vehicle having problems.

Lemons Rallys are clearly Lemons events. (Here's where I could stop and say,  "you're wrong", but the next is also important, so let's continue for just a little bit longer)

My determination is that vehicle CLEARLY was then, is now, and forever will be, a Lemons vehicle. Rally capable? Sure, maybe; as much as a 2004 Jag with 85k may be.

Lemons race car? Do the organizers like Jags in Lemons? Do you? I'm going to speculate that it may be - eventually.

The restrictions about "vintage hot rod" or "no way ever" going to be in a race are in a completely different category. That category could include tube-frame full-on race cars, like LeMans race cars; but the Jag could be entered into a race - it fulfills the minimum requirements.

So basically: you're wrong.

I've been holding back more information; if you stop now I won't post any more. Up to you.

28-7, and still 9 min. left...
