Topic: Alaska 2023 Rally Slot Up for Dibs

Hi everyone,

Longtime lurker/ twice time rally participant ( Hell on Wheels 2016 and Texas 2019). I had originally planned to go on the 2023 I Threw A  Rod Rally, but I have some personal stuff that came up that will prevent me from going. I paid up in full back in Oct and wanted to  see if anyone wanted to buy me out of the slot. Originally my wife and i were going to go but that's not happening anymore. I know there's only 25 slots so surely someone can have fun in my stead. Super bummed about not getting to go this year, but I've fallen on hard times and this trip is just not in the cards this summer.

Negotiations are being negotiated for this.

Dang,  Mike.  I thought sure you'd have been one of the original 25, but I'm glad to see you got a slot.  Stoked to see everyone's (mis)adventures online.

Bret, sorry to see that reality got the better of you, but I'm sure we'll see you again on a rally.  I know the feeling, too.  Had to ditch one rally after the first day, and had to cancel my plans to do a rally at least 3 times so far.  Though I never actually paid entry into any of those rallies, I did lose nearly $300 in plane tickets for Great River Road.  It sucks, but it's life.  Hope things are going better for you soon, if not already.

I appreciate this charitable assessment of my competence but no, I did not get my act together in time to snag one of the original slots.

I missed the 2018 California rally after paying for it. I don't recommend this approach.
