I hope the ridge isn't getting too fancy for Lemons.

I hope the ridge isn't getting too fancy for Lemons.
Happy that the 24 hour race at HPR is back in September (and glad it's still at HPR).
I think it's dumb that Denver is located in the middle of the country, which makes it challenging to get our car to any other races. Can someone update the geography of the country to appease us?
Here's a fee comparison of Lemons vs. "fortunate canine" at pittrace for our team in 2024. Just putting it out there since it appears that the camping and spectator fees both went up for 2025. We take it with a grain of salt, but it does go to show that competition is evening out.
Lemons
Team: $775
Drivers ($245 x 4): $980
Crew ($75 x 2): $150
Camping: $50 (increased to $65 in 2025??)
Spectators ($30 x 2): $60
Practice Day (not Lemons I get that): $367
Potluck: free(ish)
---> Total $2,382The other series
Team: $1800 (4 drivers @ $450 each, no extra team fees, additional drivers past 4 also free)
Camping: $50
Crew: free
Spectators: free
Hotel: Trivago
Practice Day: free / included
Potluck: $150 (6 @ $25 for catered event)
---> Total $2,000
And "the other series" usually only fields 40-50 cars vs. 80-150 in Lemons. I prefer the crowded field, but it seems counterintuitive to pay more for it.

I think you're an outlier in that respect.
In almost all circumstances, the more desirable costs more, because "That's what the traffic will bear."
I don't understand why people would pay more for the same vehicles, just with upscale upholstery, like Cadillac, Lincoln, and Chrysler, rather than Chevy, Ford, and Dodge; but that's just me.
For me, the difference between: Lexus and Toyota; Acura and Honda, etc.?
Better breakfast pastries in the waiting room.
We're happy about the Joliet & Road America races, and sad about Gingerman being on Mother's Day weekend yet again. We'd love to make it to a race at Gingerman but not at the cost of half the team getting divorced.
This. I would really love the fall Gingerman date back one day.

Can't get them to drive?
When I told my wife that I wanted to start a Lemons team, she said "Okay, as long as I get to drive, too."

When I told my wife that I wanted to start a Lemons team, she said "Okay, as long as I get to drive, too."
My wife did actually drive the race car around the block once. That was enough for her.
My wife wanted to drive the car in a race "like a normal car at regular speeds" and "not all crazy" I said she'd probably get rear ended due to how confused everyone else on track would be.

If your wife gets rear ended, that’s your fault, not ours! And this sort of thing should be private.

Yeah that's was a joke she was making and then me goofing on her too, not a marital dispute bud
Can you imagine a car pulling onto a 100+mph strait doing 60? Would be pretty dangerous. Not sure how you got me blaming other drivers for this thing that never happened
$40 for spectator tickets sounds a bit high
It does. I ask if they have a veterans discount - asked at 3 different events and get the no shrugged shoulders answer. Be nice if they offered one.
The other series is free to watch so dont get the spectator fee increase when there isnt a lot, mostly friends or family.
Prices going up lets do the math,
1,755 entry fee x 100 cars = 175,500 for one race. Curious what the expenses are.
Seems like cheap racing for 500 dollar cars has been surpassed.
$40 for the 3 day weekend isn't bad. I can accept that...
What I don't feel is fair is someone who only comes for one day, they also have to shell out $40. They're the ones getting the short end of the stick.
If they could spectate for $20 per day, we might see more friends and family coming. But maybe they're afraid that would bring too many people in, and cause unwanted congestion in the paddock area.

I read this as a joke not at all about cars, but about other things.
Bummed about no race at the ridge, but I suspect it comes down to money. But there were a bunch of rookie teams at the previous race, so maybe there's some momentum in the PNW and we'll see bigger fields. So hopefully 2026.
