Topic: 2001 Jetta 1.8t, B class.competitor - Pittsburgh $7500

$7500
2001 Jetta 1.8t
Originally NASA st5 car
I bought it with some buddies in 2021.
Have had used it for some champ/lucky dog/Lemons/TREC, SCCA enduro etc. .. pretty much whatever we wanted to go do.
It classed B with no penalty laps at road america last month.
(Although if they see it one more time with no theme, that may change)

Lots of goodies, upgraded cooling, turbo, injectors, tuned on a link4 ECU.
We've pretty much replaced every bit of boost holding hoses with hard pipes, tired of those rubber hoses tearing.
Peloquin limited slip diff
Vented hood is fake carbon, but gets the heat out all the same
Some eBay brand coilovers
Has some racing marks obviously.

Turbo was rebuilt with all new cartridge this spring, as well as fire bottle and belts new.
Has rear view camera screen that also records video forward and back (mirrors are so old school!)

Comes with a few boxes of new pads and rotors.
7 total enkei wheels.... 2 with nearly new falken 660s, 2 with RS4s with some age, and then 3 with some old worn out RS4s

Needs a headlight if you should so choose.

Only real con is the tablet dashboard.... It powers on but has no data.
If I plug my laptop into the link ECU I can see everything.
However, the link feeds a race capture system, which then feeds the dash screen that is running race capture app on a raspberry pi.
It's all there, but over my head.
It all worked prior to this spring getting the car out and at that point all telemetry was 0.
The race capture with predictive lap timing still works... Basically this is an I.T. problem, not a mechanical problem.

If we ever thought there was a problem, we'd go to paddock and plug in my laptop to the ECU.

Other spares include new front knuckles and new front axles from rock auto.
You're going to want to keep a spare of each as that's the weak spot on these 1.8t jettas, and the parts are cheap to just have them on hand.

Also note, mechanical boost gauge works... So that is essentially our tach

Interested to know what is the price and if there are any glaring issues besides the instrument cluster/screen connections.

Sure... No issues, just that you're driving a b class cheater car that can't go 2hrs on fuel... But you be pulling on all the fireturds and pretty much every other b class car and having more fun than being a moving pylon in a 100hp 1997 Jetta.

Price, well reference the above.
My first Lemons car was a 97 Jetta hatch that made 100hp with no spares that was $3500... We outgrew that quickly... Which is what they still sell for.

This car is $500 +2000 in parts and tires and brakes +4500 for the cage+seat+fire+belts

So ... you're looking for $10k for this race-proven vehicle, yes?

Yikes, define race proven....

I'm assuming you're honest and accurate about its history, and that: "It has passed Lemons tech and made it on track for a race".

Yes, you can see in the picture link the tech sticker from road America from like 6 weeks ago.

If you watch the Lemons recap video on YouTube, you'll see it on track racing.

I just meant "race proven" and Lemons don't really go together... They're all turds.
It's suitable to race, yes... With extra wheels and tires and brakes and one extra new in box of all the common failure points.

Hey jriley! I'm sorry, but I haven't gotten the email back from the forum I think it's an issue on my end though. Could you just email me directly at chegfreg@gmail.com please? I was curious about some more pics of the drivers side and transmission.  Thank you!
