We have six drivers, in case any of them break, and two or three mechanics.

We have taken a radical approach to spares. We're not going to bother with any. My logic is that it's a weird old car that was never sold in the US, so if we are to bring spares we'd essentially need a complete car. And British Airway's hand baggage allowance won't permit that. We did order a timing belt which, because this is a British car, remember, came from a Germany company's factory in Estonia. I'll probably forget to pack it. This car shares some parts with the Honda Accord but that, too, was a peculiar spec that was never supplied in the US. We're just going to wing it.

Theme... we're quite pleased with the theme we have, but have also been warned we might get a bit shot as our humour doesn't always translate to 'murca very well.

Some of us love British humor. In fact, Monty Python made a few dollars on this side of the pond.  Benny Hill shows haven't aged well, but were quite entertaining at the time.

Or perhaps I was just younger and more easily amused years ago.

Curious if there be any issues with door bars. I recall there is something about angled bars. aka looking from the side and bars not straight

Passenger side looks fine. The drivers side is a little odd. It almost looks like it comes in towards the driver. I think its more of an optical illusion and its straight across and then curves at the end to meet the A-pillar bar.

Agree it looks weird, but I think it's illusory. It may be that the right (driver's) door bar rises like the left (passenger) door bar, what with the retained rear door panel.

My first thought was that: in case of a 'high bumper, high point of impact' collision on the left side, perhaps the top bar would give way too easily and swing in like a cat door.

When I enlarged the pic, I changed my mind, and I like it a LOT more. I now think the top bar gets a lot of additional support from the horizontal continuation of the harness bar through the main hoop.

So instead of being in the weak middle of a vertical part of the main hoop which is only tied together top and bottom, it lands very close to that horizontal continuation, which will transfer force to the diagonal, and will better tie in the top of the cage to distribute the load.

I like that a LOT.

Re: Ex-F1 drivers own Rover 620SLi road car, destined for NH. Yes, really.

A quick message to thank everyone who made us so welcome at NH. A few months ago I was stood in England looking at this crappy Rover, yesterday I was driving it about in NH. Someone (I wish I could remember names) brought us cookies which was so incredibly kind. We won Organisers choice which meant a plywood trophy and some money to offset the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ we spent on 'Slim', our Rover. I think the car may appear again in Lemons in the safe hands of our militant Rover co-strikers, Tim and Dave.

https://www.motorpunk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/rover-620-slim-borgudd-at-lemons-rich-duisberg.jpeg

Who was in the 944 (car 185?) which rammed us up the arse? No beef - it happens, no problem, just curious. So cool to see the Lancia Scorpion, Lemontarians, the Cordobas, the mad truck, the repaired Merkur post-fire, the silly 914, that mad Irishman in the Audi A4 and the 'feckin' eejits' in the E30, plus the Saab lads from Canada who had way more skills and energy that I could ever muster, Glamping World, the Saab 99 and Scooby Do and co who were in a train of folks lapping us regularly. Hey, it's not the winning, it's the taking (a)part - right?

If you like our style, I have written a book which you may like (terribly blunt advert here, but, hey, I need the royalties), it's on Amazon here.

I also write for ClassicRetroModern magazine, and have done two large features on Lemons already, there'll be one on the fun and games at NHMS in a future issue, too. Maybe you'll be in it. Who knows. They ship to the US and the mag is available in eBAY direct from the publisher here. Print is not dead! I hope this is in at least some tiny way a nice memorial to Slim Borgudd who, we know, was a great guy. His car lives on.

One out, all out!

Cheers, Rich.
