Topic: Kill switch location

Does anyone know if we can pass tech inspec if we locate the kill switch on the actual hood (close the windshield to minimize amount of lift when hood is opened and with adequate slack in wires and protective cover, and an anchor to avoid pull on the lines).  On our ford escort there isn't another good exterior space and i'd much prefer to not run long leads through the firewall into the cabin for dash placement.  thanks!

Please, this topic is DONE.  Do not post anything else here lol.  Kill Switches do NOT need to be further discussed.

Actually Matt I think this is the first question on the board about placement of the kill switch. We posted the hell out of it on the Yahoo board, but not this one. (YET)
I did a search cause I am thinking of doing a 1000 kill switches on one car and making them all work. I am going to call it "Overkill" just to make the point about the endless kill switch:)

Re: Kill switch location

I couldn't find any other threads about kill switches, and know nothing about any yahoo group.  I would like to hear the conversation about them.

Re: Kill switch location

I mounted our kill switch with some brackets to the shock tower. Then cut an opening in the hood for it to stick out thru. This way there's no movement of wires or switch when opening the hood. One of our friends SHO had the switch mounted on the hood. They forgot to put the hood pin clips on and the hood opened going down the road. It broke the switch and pulled the hell out of the fat battery cables.

Also when you mount the switch to the hood you need to make sure it doesn't touch anything when the hood is closed.

Hey Jer,
Before there was this killer Forum (as you can see we all suck up to Nick) there was the Lemons yahoo group we still post threads there once in a while. 24hoursofLeMons@yahoogroups.com
If you have questions do a search on this board, there is tons of stuff here that newbies would like to know and the oldies like Free Range would like to forget.

BTW bender, this is a SPECTACULAR idea and might just net you an award of some kind.  If I was an organizer I'd vote for you for organizers choice, but I'm not.  I'm not sad
