Topic: Old Cars at Reno/Fernley

Being a fan of the old and crappy over the new and reliable, my team decided to ditch our much-to-new '88 Escort and run a '74 English/German Ford Capri in the Reno event. I wanted to see if there were any other old Jalopies running at Fernley. I think pre-1980 qualifies as old in my eyes, or if its French pre-2000.
I know there will be at least one MGB. What other vintage heaps are people bringing?

In addition to your fine European racin' machine, Reno will feature a pair of Datsun B210s, a '65 Chevy Corvair, a '64 Buick Skylark, a '65 Ford Mustang, a '67 Plymouth Fury, a couple of Alfettas, a '77 Chevy Monza, a TR7, a '71 Alfa Spider, a '79 Camaro, a pair of 280Zs, a '78 Celica, a BMW 2002, and a '78 5-series.

Now that's a solid collection. I'm glad there is a strong non-E30 non-honda contingent.

Re: Old Cars at Reno/Fernley

If pre-2000 is old for French cars, our 1988 Peugeot 505 is positively ancient.

Ha ha ha, "Monza"

Ha ha ha!

"This is the scene where I get shot," Bronson said. "I have these little squibs that explode to make it look like bullets are hitting." "Fascinating," said Bergman. "I never knew how they did that." "You mean," asked Bronson, "you don't use machine guns in your movies?"

I like my transportation reliable and my race cars slow and crappy.

Maybe some of that Honda reliability will rub off on our machine while its sharing trailer space.

Re: Old Cars at Reno/Fernley

We will be bringing our 1967 Plymouth Fury to the race, can't miss it, it's in the bright Hemi Orange Mopar.  We took it out to a track day last weekend and good thing we did as when we put the new motor in we didn't even bother to pull the valve covers or oil pan to inspect it.  We lost oil pressure late in the day and this is what we found.

Oops, when we took the valve cover off and found 9 push rods under the driver side valve cover we figured that was a bad sign.  Weird part is it didn't even bend the push rod, it was completely intact traveling from the passenger side of the motor to the driver side.
