Topic: I found a real LeMon

I was picking up parts for the Lemons Alfetta and i ran into this and picked it up for a whopping $200 clams. 50/50 chance of blowing up or getting crushed.

Thats a sweet car... almost too sad to turn into a Lemon.  I always wanted one of those.

You'll do good with a 164. Gutted for Lemons should bring the weight down quite a bit. You can probably sell lots of interior parts off it.

You'll be able to part the dickens out of that car.  That engine would be great for a insertion in a GTV6 or Milano.  Ahem, cough cough, where are you?

Re: I found a real LeMon

We've been waiting for one of those to show up. But even we didn't expect one to look THAT awesome.

Although this V6 in a RWD Alfa would be good if you could make it work. Alfa Parts Exchange was working on a conversion for a GTV6 motor in 105-series cars, might be ready by now. Hell, maybe that's what we need to do to the Ecurie Ecrappe Spider. I was planning on dying young anyway.

Bret! I am in beautiful San Diego and he has 4 more to grab at this time. All interior parts are up for grabs! Will trade for Sailor Jerrys rum plus shipping smile

Re: I found a real LeMon

Wow, I can't believe any 164 can be had for less than $500, most of the one's I've seen for sale are $2500 - $5000. Is there something horribly wrong with it that can't be seen in the pictures? Sounds like you got a sweet deal!

Flip it for a tidy profit and buy something else!

Re: I found a real LeMon

Ah, memories. My friend from San Diego drove his 164 to Camarillo for a mutual friend's wedding when it died. Had to get it towed 3 different times using 3 different AAA cards to get it home. I gave him a ride home. He swore off eye-talian cars after that, yet he still has like 4 Vespas.

Re: I found a real LeMon

It gets even better! i went up friday to get a headlight relay for the red one and he sold me another black 164LS with 5 speed for 200 bucks again. Anybody need parts? I have a few spares.

Re: I found a real LeMon

This is just crazy! Those 24 valve motors are worth at least $1000. Don't do it man, give it up to some Alfisti who will love and cherish those cars. Once you go Lemons you never go back, man.

I could see a rusty North East Car but a California car is  a whole nother ball game.

On th eother hand I would love to get my filthy hands on a 24 valve motor. But I know I could never get it past the BS Inspection in my Milano.

1987 Alfa Milano (Bellissima since 2008), Racing since 2008 Stafford Springs,  2nd overall 2011 NJMP, 4th at NHMS 2011, 2nd at Summit 2011, Into the wall hard at Stafford Springs 2011, 2nd at Monticello 2013, 3rd at NHMS 2013, 2nd at NHMS 2016. 2nd at NJMP 2018

25,000 racing miles in 32 races in 10 years. Yes its the same motor. Tell me again how Alfas suck? Update: Big moneyshift = new motor

Re: I found a real LeMon

im one of those people who sometimes just want to watch the world burn, so i'm totally for you to get that nice alfa impaled on a track somewhere between an escort and a Plymouth Fury big_smile

One of the most noted American Alfisti, Conrad Stevenson, also happens to be a Lemons guy. Had to choose between racing the Spider at Buttonwillow or the 6C 2500 at Laguna. Turns out these different philosophies aren't always mutually exclusive. There are plenty of nice 164s out there--I'm thinking that these $200 versions aren't among them.

A 24 valve Milano would totally pass BS inspection--all you need is the bill(s) of sale from a small collection of $200 164s!

All it takes is $200 and it comes with a free car!
