Topic: List of *Active* Blogs?

First off... I am a Newbie... and I am totally ok with it..  and no John, I haven't asked any stupid questions to anyone except my teammates smile

As we were prepping for Arse Freezapolooza last year, it was VERY helpful for me to follow some other teams via blogs.  It gave us a "better" design for our cage (thanks Snowspeeder), and it gave us some ideas for making our theme a little better.

I currently have a short list of about 4 or 5 blogs that I actively watch, but most of the websites liked to the Reno teams have either a) No posts or b) One post for when the bought their car.

Can we post a link to some of the more active blogs?  I'll let the ones I follow chime in on their own.

Ours is updated usually weekly, depending on how hard we are working.

Re: List of *Active* Blogs?

I have been updating the I Wanna Roc blog about once every other week, but as we get closer to the race and my stress level increases substantially the updates should be coming in much more frequently.

Re: List of *Active* Blogs?

Not much here yet but I expect it to grow with our progress. We've never done this before, and I haven't even really got a firm team together (much less applied) so it ought to make a good record of noob disasters (and hopefully, final glorious triumph...) Not to mention how we will manage to operate a rare car under a tight budget.

Re: List of *Active* Blogs?

I'm pretty good about keeping our blog active. Unfortunately it won't be of any help because;

A) I tend to write/make up whatever happens to cross my mind at the moment

B) I don't know what the hell I'm doing either.

It could have entertainment value if only it was actually funny, but no...

I update about weekly now.  Things are calming down, and we are going to start working on the car more, as summer comes on.  The posts will get more frequent as we work more.

Ours is updated often because we have a bunch of prolific hams on the team :-).

Hey Sparky - How's the B?  Ready for tech?

And, Matt... you'll find that my bark is worse than my bite.  Ask Sparky.  When the sh*t hits the fan, I'll be the first there to help... regardless of "Newb or Not."  My intent is not to ridicule Newbs but to get everyone to think, especially Newbies.  IMHO, I think that video games and drift movies and all that racing media crap has made everyone feel like racing is easy... it's all bolt-on stuff... anyone can do it.  Well, think again.  That's my emphasis.  If I can get 20% of all Newbs to think about it, "get it" and pass-it-on, our sport will be stronger, safer and better.

Pujo!!!! More info on the looflirpa.net and reinvesting in american cars bit from your blog!  The link doesn't work to the .net website, but it sounds like a great program.

The only thing I see that still holds me back from recommending american cars is the reliability factor.  There are a billion 200k mile hondas and toyotas for sale that still run perfect, but trying to find a buick anything with over 100k miles an no blown motor or bad tranny is near impossible (yes, they exist, I know.  Some people really take care of their cars).  I don't see the perception as being that american fit and finish or ride are any worse than foreign cars, as was the case in the aftermath of the 80s, but reliability has been and remains a big problem for the big three.   The reliability reality drives down the resale value of used american cars, such that when someone such as myself who's only driven used cars may go to look at new cars, there's little attraction for a Chevy Malibu or Ford Focus because I know in four years they'll be worth less than half what they were new, while the toyota camry will be worth... well, basically what it was worth new smile

Just my .02, and I would like to see an updated website for the program!

The Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys can be found here sometimes, however, we are more likely to be pleading with our wives and girlfriends (often at the same time) to allow us to continue  work on Pujo! (there is a reason nobody has entered a 505 Turbo S before):
