Topic: So close to being finished, but shit just keeps going wrong

Got the motor and transmission back in the Lemons car, expecting to fire it up... and of course the "Oh wow look at this awesome distributor!" that I found at the junkyard isn't working... popped the cap off and it looked like someone took a blowtorch to it. Just want to get it running again and drive the damn thing! I guess it wouldn't be Lemons if we were dealing with new parts though...

It will come together.,  Just think about it, you are replacing parts that would have likely failed in the race.. smile

Even if you think you have all the details worked out, something will go wrong.
We had problems with a transmission one week before the our first race, we replaced it with a back-up and made it to the race to find out it didn't have a third or fourth gear. We ended up blowing our motor during test and tune at the track. Just remember it's Lemons and if your car doesn't spew something during the race your pretty damn lucky or a cheating bastard! Just remember ask for help if you need it, there are a lot of damn good mechanics at the track just waiting to screw up your car too. Good luck, see you at the next race.

I agree, we cooked 2 alternators the weekend before the race, thank god for Advance's lifetime warranty.  Just the way it is...

Oh! we have special canopy repellent we are going to be using at Buttonwillow.
From what I understand it's a requirement to keep from getting killed by wild, unpredictable and un-restrained canopies. We also have a good supply of trailer bandages big enough for any kind major bleeding. You can't be overly-prepared for what gets "THROWN AT YOU"
