I personally like how the engine blocks airflow to the radiator,  that is a brillant design.

HOLY MACKEREL! Am I gonna have to restrain my BS-lap-writin' pen when some cheatin' team rolls past the inspection with a Buick Nailhead under the hood of this fine Stasi-Approved™ machine? Nailhead Wartburg! It just sounds right!

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

Only seven moving parts in the engine!

You underestimate the Secretariat of Krappe Wagen design, grasshopper. The radiator doubles as the car's heater!

What kind of corrupt capitalist stooge needs heat in his car? Did Karl Marx have a heater in his car? No wonder East Germany collapsed!

Too true! What sort of running dog, lickspittle counter revoluntionary would want such creature comforts? Hard to figure why that Soviet thing didn't pan out.

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

And such Imperialist decadence as FOUR strokes...typical of wasteful running dog lackeys of capitalism...Wartburg is correct use of people's resources to provide higher production of T-54 to stop warmonger Eisenhower and gangsterist Wall Street from destroying Workers Paradise of DDR

Wait, the Wall Street part might be true...

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

Actually Nick the car looks in surprisingly good shape and looks really complete...maybe somebody should restore this Stasi gem...Compared to the Bus, this thing would at least be an appropriate machine to annoy everyone in the pits with the Soviet national anthem...what size are the tires? That alone could decide its Lemons fate...

Wait, the Wall Street part might be true...

Well, if this guy doesn't win the Wartburg, I'm at least giving him "The Iron Fist of the Proletariat Needs No Glove" award.

Ah, a fan of the heroes from the Great Patriotic War -- most excellent!

I may not even report your dismissal of Comrade Lenin's quotation at the next Politburo gathering.

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

Nice, I like it... Somebody should do a light restore on this one and enjoy it. Too nice, too old and too rare here in the US for Lemons.

"Don't mess with Lexas!" LS400. We survived another one! See website link for build details.
Maker of the "unofficial Lemons fish!" - If you ask nice, I'll likely give you one at the track.

Not true my friend.  What better place far a car like that than a race where all the cars cost the same amount?  Finally those devoted to the teachings of comrade Marx get to go racing!  Wait, are some cars more equal than others?  Only the judges can decide...

Cars, cameras, and easy living...

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

Yes, and in true Leninist egalatarian fashion, all other competitors will have their trunks filled with concrete....no one should be fast until everybody is fast!

Re: More pix of the Wartburg! EDIT: UPDATED!

Double engine. Flat four EJ255/auto in front, '67 Toronado 425 w/TH425 in back.

Solves all your weight distribution problems, or introduces some weight distribution problems, and a combined 750-ish HP will assure your fast arrival into something solid.

Or, in keeping with the Eastern Bloc thinking, a GAZ-24 V8 and the aluminum brake drums that the Sovs put on the Lada Riva 'For Stopping!'

There's got to be enough bits around for a truly in-character Warty 311. A little Moskvitch here, some ZIL there, and your competitors will be left in awe of what the former USSR was capable of!

Volvo PV544 (RIP) - now with Chevy 3.9 power!
2007/2012/2013 Driver's Championship (what was I thinking!?) 142 races and counting.
