Topic: Video-1 hour of nonstop racing action from a momentum car-ButtonWillow

Here is an hour long video from my stint from the Sunday morning start at Buttonwillow.  Crashes, commentary, dust clouds, screeching worn and hot tires, honking, and creative passing.
All this from our 1990 Mazda 323 1.6 liter 82HP Lemons racer... Can you say "The Ultimate Momentum Car"???

The Pyramid and Crystal powers were working on our car- It only took about 1/3rd of a lap to get up to speed- when you HAD to hit the brakes...

#114 Team Zoom-Zoom..Boom had a great time with all the racers out there.  We will see you all Thunderhill--  If Jay and the Lemons crew will have us back.

Sit back (yes...an hour long. I only had to edit out one full course yellow), grab a drink, watch the video and I'm sure you will see your car at some point.....

What a GREAT EVENT!

I captured that pass of the Mini early in the video. That 323 is such a monster!

Nice video man.  I can't call B.S. on the 82 HP because I have nothing to back it up, however my ex G/F had a '86 323 (good damn car BTW) and it was no where NEAR that fast.  If your 82HP claim is true,  you were using that momentum to the full extent...good job!

Looks like you drove hard, but clean which all I ask of anyone on the track when I'm out there.  However your horn honking...no place for that on a race track.

Did you also notice you drove worse when you were out of traffic?  You were over driving the tires, the track, and everything else.  I know, because I did the same thing!  Once I had to whole track to myself I noticed the car didn't handle quite as well with the extra speed into the corners and I over drove it just like you did.

Looks like you guys had a blast.  I can't wait for CMP in three weeks!

That is a great shot Murilee! That was right when I looked over to Mr. Bean and asked if he had any Grey Poupon. smile

VKZ24- Your Ex GF 323 was probably the 1.1L or 1.2L motor they made that year- Different motor and body back then. That would of been super slow.  #114 is definitely a stock 1.6 with 162000miles on it.

As for the Horn- I disagree...... It is a perfect place for the use of the horn- ITS THE 24 HOUR OF Lemons for Pete sake!!!! We have drivers who have never been on a race track before and fur, rockets, dummies, wind generators, skeletons, fins, Indy car wings, Police lights, sirens, ice cream truck speakers, and more on cars that should not be on the race track.....lol

As for the driving- I was just having fun- Laptimes do not lie. I could care less if I was not getting a perfect lap. I was just having a blast like everyone else.

Anyone that is thinking about doing this race should just sack up and buy a $500 car-  I had more fun at this race than at my other "real" races.

Have fun at CMP!!!!  I'm jealous!  Anyone need a driver? smile
