Topic: Refueling, fuel tanks, etc?

The description of the New England event states no fuel available at the track. We plan on going maybe 1000 miles (well, you have to plan for success) at maybe 12mpg, we're going to use a lot of fuel. So, this may be a dumb question, but how are folks planning on solving this problem? Half a dozen 5 gal cans? 2-3 really big 25 gal cans? One can and you send someone to the filling station 2-3 times?

Re: Refueling, fuel tanks, etc?

The winner last year went about 500 miles.

Last year, we had 4 - 5 gallon cans and sent someone to the station when they were empty.  We started with a full tank and I think they went twice.

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Re: Refueling, fuel tanks, etc?

Does that mean the we will be able to come and go while cars on on track?  It looked like the pits might be track bound depending on how the course is laid out.

Pits and paddock last year were off on the 4-5o'clock position of this picture where the dark blacktop is.  You enter and exit the track from the two spots in front of the building.

The pits are not track locked.  and you can see the track entrance and exit dirt road from 3:00 to the 11:00 position of the track.

Fantastic.  That mean we can get gas, parts, and Warsteiner during the race.

Re: Refueling, fuel tanks, etc?

we invested in a DOT approved Gas Caddy for Thill last year, although we didn't know we had to fill up at the pad before we bought it.  It worked out pretty well, and filled a lot faster than the pumps.

Re: Refueling, fuel tanks, etc?

Sorry to break up this up, but I have a question.

Currently I am looking for fuel jugs and am considering ones from Ultra Racing Gear, Scribner, Flo-Fast, and Posse. Anyone have any experience with any or all of these and would care to share their experience, overall impression, etc?
