Topic: A/C hard line splice kits?

Anyone have experience using these? My 2011 Chevy Traverse's rattling power steering line rubbed a leak into the a/c hard line that runs back to the rear seat a/c unit. You'd think the mechanic who replaced the power steering pump (under warranty still because the original P/S pump was so inadequate) a couple of weeks ago would ha e taken a peek at the damage the rattling hose was causing, but no. Now I have an inoperative a/c due to the leak in this hard line. AC DELCO is incredibly proud of this hard line as it runs $750 retail and $400 wholesale and four hours to put it in. Screw that.

Anyone have experience using A/C line splice kits with compression fittings? What's a good brand and/or brands to avoid? Will specialty a/c repair shops generally be willing splice hard lines?

Any been there done that advice is much appreciated.

Been there, done that. Used these fittings:

Worked well so far. Put it on about 5 years ago and still holding.
