Topic: I have left Jalopnik

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/jalopnik/2010/09/mm_impala_burnout.jpg

After nearly four years since my first Jalopnik post (and three since my first Lemons race), I've joined Judge Jonny (and many others) in leaving the site.

However, I will continue to document the madness, genius, and sheer idiocy of Lemons racing. I'm talking to folks at a few sites, and I'll post the traditional Top Lemons of Lemons post for the South Fall race (as well as the Yeehaw It's Texas '10 race) on MurileeMartin.com. Same goes for galleries, BS inspection timelapse videos, and the other Lemons coverage y'all have come to expect from Murilee Martin aka Judge Phil.

I need to rest today, thanks to a long and miserable USAirways flight following a particularly hot and grueling weekend at CMP (the racing keeps getting more and more competitive at the South events; I'm pretty sure even Eyesore would have a tough time contending at CMP these days- and, yes, Eyesore, that's a challenge!), but I'll get some Lemons stuff up at my site by tomorrow.

Re: I have left Jalopnik

Good luck on your book. I'm glad you aren't leaving Lemons like what-his-name we've already forgotten.

Yee-Haw 2010 "Most Heroic Fix" & "I Got Screwed" -2 trophies for 1 lap, but I took checkered on my lap.
Gator-O-Rama 2012 "Organizers Choice" -2 laps 1 trophy, but i still finished ahead of an E30
Yee-Haw 2013 No trophy -26 laps, I think I see a pattern here

Re: I have left Jalopnik

Hey Phil did you get a chance to try the rum cake?

Re: I have left Jalopnik

Glad you made the choice to give up Jalopnik rather than Lemons.  The only reason I started reading Jalopnik was the Lemons coverage.  You and Johnny are an important part of the Lemons experience.  It would be a pretty big blow to lose both of you!

BTW: Thanks for letting me play deputy judge for a couple of hours during BS.  It made me appreciate what you guys do that much more.

endurncekarting.com is more than willing to give them a challenge here at CMP/Stafford to see who has the better Miata. N/A,stock suspension vs. Ghetto Turbo/Suspension.

True, very true.

Re: I have left Jalopnik

We want to organize an autocross at the Thunderhill skidpad for Miatas on spare tires..Most of us Spec Miata guys have piles of them....

Re: I have left Jalopnik

Space-saver spare autocross might be the best idea yet!

This would ROCK......  the only bummer is lack of parking at Thunderhill if the skidpad is filled with soon to be slaughter cones!!!!

Re: I have left Jalopnik

Video Option already did space saver drifting. An FD D1 car on 4 space savers in the rain going downhill is pretty fun to watch.

Murilee quitting Jalopnik was about to be one of several reasons for me to pull the plug on coming to Autobahn. "No Lemons coverage?"

I used to have a catamaran trailer that would impale and collect traffic cones with an alarming frequency.

Being 8' 6" wide it gathered a bunch of stray cones that were just a bit over the line...

Another Jalop writer bails.  They must be real task masters over at Gawker.

Let me guess... You didn't want to put in face time at the NY office.  I certainly cannot blame you.  New York City is not the place to bring piles of project rust and the commute from places with enough affordable square footage for the typical car enthusiast will drive you nuts with the 3+ hours of commuting each day.

I suspect that would have something to do with Phil's first novel. It is characterized by some as "saucy."
