We visited the track today and got to talk to the owner (I think he was the owner) and do a track walk. OK, I did the walk, Alan drove around in his truck for 20 laps or so until they threatened to charge him for a test-and-tune.
We also checked around town to locate the gas, food, and auto parts places.
The cheapest gas is at the Quick Stop, which is the closest station, and is open 24 hours. It has food and stuff there too. Gas: 87 = $3.98/gal, 91=$4.17/gal. Cheaper than here in Davis!
Round Table is a bit closer to the track and have just started delivering. Papa Johns is somewhere in town and we were told they deliver.
Auto Docs is near Round Table and they have a big sign that says "Engine Replacement". Not that we'd need any help doing that.
NAPA parts is on HWY-50 heading towards Fallon. They close at 5pm Saturday and are open on Sunday from 9AM - 4PM. O'Reilly's and Auto Zone are farther down HWY-50 then take a left at the traffic circle and you will find them soon. Autozone is open until 9PM Sat/Sun, and O'R 7:30 AM-8:00 PM Sat/9:00 AM-6:00 PM Sun. Normally NAPA does not deliver to the track because the orders are small.
At the track, they will install six lights at selected corners, mostly the hard-braking ones. The lights will be aimed at the flagger stand (back lit) and the corner.
I don't think they are going to have nearly enough port-a-potties, but they promised to keep them pumped.
There has been talk of getting a tire guy out the the track. Nothing certain yet.
It can get windy at R-F, but the track provides lots of 5 gallon buckets half full of concrete that we can use to help tie down our canopies
During my track walk I noticed that the white lines at the edges of the pavement were almost gone. I mentioned how nice it would be to have them repainted before the race, what with the night racing and all. Instead, they will install reflectors at the entries of the turns and I think they said the apexes, too. Per an earlier discussion the track was likened to how road racing was back in the early Donahue days, with simple tracks and not a lot of the nicer things we are used to now, and is not like Thunderhill. I guess that means the absence of the white lines is part of the track's theme.
Some pics.

Someone asked about tire wear.
Please note the "wall" on your left.
