It says it was a GM test but has mostly Mopars in it. The cars were so unsafe back then but you did have a lot of metal around you.
A few years ago a 440-6 Pac Roadrunner came out of the woodworks that was used in tests like that, it was used as a tow car to smash cars into walls with cadavers in them. Car had been sitting in the basement of a college for 30 or so years and was pretty well preserved.
Maybe we should do up the Fury as a crash test car? It looks like it has already gone through a crash test of some sort.
i'm not sure what good "having a lot of metal around you" did.
More shit to smash into?
More metal to bend and behead you?
More crush zone? Seems to work for our car at least.
Todays cars have more crush zone. The old cars were freaking solid and would give you whiplash without even a dent on the bigass chromed steel bumper.

I have firsthand experience with that. I got rear-ended on 880 in my old Comet, and the impact transfer was impressive. Now I know what it's like to be rear-ended by a Saturn without being in a car at all.
A lot of the problems with old cars is occupant control in a collision. More metal or better crush zones won't help when the occupant is flopping around like a rag doll. Lap belts and bench seats without headrests look great but they're horrible from a safety standpoint.
The failing door latches are also an obvious failure spot! That was really striking, how many of the cars had their doors fling open. You still see that occasionally, but not nearly that often.
